I guess, having twins is something to do with genes and not with folic acid.
If that was the case, most of them would have had just folic acid as food

Folic acid reduces the potentially risk of having a fetus with a neural tube defect. During pregnancy, you require more of all of the essential nutrients than you did before you became pregnant.

It does not matter if you are having a single baby or twins, Folic acid is a essential nutrient for the well being of the baby.

The recommended quantity is about 400 micrograms (0.4 milligrams) of folic acid every day

Dear Ratna,

Your doctor knows about you better than anybody else,

The recommended daily intake of folic acid for all women of childbearing age is at least 400 micrograms (mcg), or 0.4 milligrams (mg). During pregnancy, the recommended dose jumps up to 600 - 800 mcg, or 0.6 - 0.8 mg, a day. So dont worry you and your baby are just fine. Your doctor would have suggested this for the betterment and for the well being of your baby...

Please speak to your doctor in detail about this in your next visit. As far as i know 800 mcg is not a overdose.

Sri

Ratna,

Regarding your air travel, there is another thread in this forum

http://www.indusladies.com/forums/i-...trimester.html

I think that would answer all your queries. And coming to the scanning, when I went for a scan for the first time during the 8 week, i was told that the scan will be done only when my HCG (hormone) count is considerable. I am not sure if that is the same case with you...You were talking about sugar levels, how did you know about your sugar level? was there a Glucose test done? usually glucose test will be done only after 25th week, you case could have been different, please consult your doctor and get to you about this and please reduce your carbohydrate intake, instead take more proteins and drink plenty of water. Its better to cut down your rice intake and start taking wheat and also take plenty of fruits and vegetables....Do not worry, your doctor knows better, please consult your doctor and take appropriate steps...and there will be a scan after 20 weeks (5th month).

Please take care of your self and dont worry about anything, enjoy your pregnancy.....

Folic acid has nothing to do with twins, folic acid makes sures that nueral tube is formed without any mal deformation. Having twins purely depends on genes.

hi,
of couse u were true ,wen i went for second month chek-up ,dr tested me for glucose test.I am shocked to see me sugar levels, that random sugar level was 129 as said by dr.BUt wen i asked my mom,who is in india to check with this, the dr .told that always automatic machine have 12-20 mg of <> values.BUt i din ignore it,actually i am not at all taking carb foods ,as i was having vomitting and nasua. cant able to have foods, vegs etc.BUt in the begining stage i was only put on fruits and fruit juices .As the fruits have high quantities of sugar and juices of course,so i am thiniking this would have made my sugar levels to be hiked.i have only one doubt, wat is the link between sugar levels and scanning,,plz explain me friend.i am put up alone in my place they were no signle friends near by ,i am always depressed and feeling aloof,so my parents want me to come india as soon as posible.
