Oh dear Cathy, I'm in a similar situation as you:) My due date is 8th June and my parents will come exactly a month before itself. Because i've to show them how things work here and also for them to get used to my son's routines. For Europe only 3 months' visa is issued. Though they're insisting that they're here only to help us I will feel terribly guilty if i didn't show them any place around. I'm hoping the baby will come 10 days earlier (like my boy did). If it's a c-section again, I'm ruined:( though my husband too says he'll take them around i know for sure they'll not agree to it. God help us both Latha

Hello Ladies, Congrats on the new arrival. Well ideally it is better to wait till you get your 6 week check up done before you plan on long trips. Day trips to nearby places should be okay after 4 weeks. This since the first 4 weeks, you will still be getting used to the new baby and its routines etc..... Also it is better to wait till the baby has had its first set of shot at 2 months before you venture to really crowded places like Disney world and Universal . Hope this gives you rough guidelines. I have seen ladies with 6 week old infants in places like Disney , Universal etc.... Vandhana

Besides considering your own health and the baby's health before travelling you can plan to do something like this... you can take a room in or near Disney world, Orlando and may be spend 1/2 a day or so in the park and the rest 1/2 in the room. Or if you aren't comfortable you can stay in the room while your parents visit the parks with your hubby and come back to the hotel later in the day. This way your parents won't feel that they are having fun 2 hrs drive from you and they will be just a phone call away. Try Quality Inn Suites - all the rooms they offer are 2 or 3 bedroom suites with kitchenette attached which has utensils stocked. I understand your scenario as I'm in Riverview and we didn't want to drive back and forth to our house and Disney on the same day. Moreover my guess is that your parents will also get tired so select few attractions and get fast passes so they can get a taste of everything. This hotel also offers tickets to all major Orlando attractions at a very reasonable rate. If not you can always get FL resident annual passes for yourself and your hubby and that way you can always come back again to see more after your parents leave. -L.
