Meet on 30th august 2008

here are a couple of pictures of the meet on 30th .... have found no time to write yet ... will do so before the end of the day

Nice to see the pictures. I was outside till 1.30. actually tried calling from 11.00 and most of the time your mobile was busy...thought would call you to enquire about the meet.

Hi everybody

The mini meet on 30th at Adyar began with a cheerful Goodmorning from Varalotti at 7.30 a.m . They had some chores to complete and promised to join the meet at 12.30.

The first to arrive was Kaluputti(Gowri) . A very elegant lady.. a very good painter... a good conversationist ... she reminded me quite a lot of Chitvish

We were then joined by Vidu29(Vidya). Her Tamizh would put a lot of our anchors on the tamil screen to shame .. ( her mother tongue is not Tamizh)... she also turned out to be someone who is so interested in painting ,and anything concerned with arts ... I ofcourse moved away on the pretext of looking at something ... ( Arts and ME) !! Oh Gosh !!!

She was followed by UmaSridharan with her cute daughter Brindha.

You can imagine the commotion with three ladies all talking at the same time it was fun..

Varalotti and Indushree joined us a bit later ... a lovely lively couple..

Jaisapmm(Baubujai) called to say he would be a little late... he was so late we were almost thru with lunch when he arrived and poor man .. had to have his lunch alone ..

It was pure fun and pulling each others' legs right from the start .. this is what I really like about the IL meet ups everybody is so friendly,... nobody feels out of place ..

The menu deviated from the original I had planned since I suddenly realised that it was "amavasai" on Saturday and didnt know how many were 'observers'.. But Uma so graciously accepted to bring so many dishes ... thank you Uma ..

Uma brought huge quantities of yummy potato curry,yummier salad,soft chapatis and delicious carrot payasam. slurp.. slurp...

I had made jeera rice, rajma, aviyal, more kuzhambu, capsicum paruppu usili and thayir saadam...

Vidya had brought some delicious coconut barfis (am i right vidya?) which had everybody helping themselves generously to it ... Gowri had brought some yummy Bangali sweet ... so you can imagine my poor condition .... sob sob ....

Varalotti so thoughtfully presented us with copies of his books and we all made sure we had it autographed ( when he wins the sahitya academy I can show off .. was Umas' comment )!!!

I have never visited Madurai ( I dont have any relative that side ) .. now I know where to book tickets for my next break ... Madurai.. here I come !!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was three by then and everybody had to leave ...

a lovely couple of hours came to an end...

I wish there were many more who could have made it .. maybe next time around ...

Ofcourse my post wouldnt be complete without mentioning about the mini 'heart attack" I had !!

I thought Joshua was 'safely locked '... I was waiting at the balcony trying to guide Vidya ( shanthi .. thats why u could never catch me )!! when i thot i "heard" Joshua in the living room.. I ran... and to my utter surprise found Joshua wagging his tail nineteen to the dozen and having his back scratched by Kaluputti(Gowri)!!! by then Vidya had come in and before I could say Jack he had run across to her and given her a big sloppy lick .. turns out she is a dog lover too and comes from a family of veterinarians ... oops.. I breathed a sigh of relief..

ofcourse Joshua had to be packed off to my sisters' house when the Varalottis were there ... though ofcourse he would have loved to have been a part of the IL Meet !!!
