Default Meet with Chitra!

Hi ILites,

Just wanted to share the joy of meeting with Chitra. I am 3 months pregnant and she asked my mom what I felt like eating, and when I went to Chennai this time, she came home making the foll things :

1) Dates khoa balls
2) Thair vadai
3) 3 varieties of Gulab jamun
4) Banana kesari ( sorry if I have goofed up the name :))
5) Keerai vadai

I want to mention about each of these items one by one

1) Dates Khoa balls - she may have made around 10 balls, looked so extremely neat, round perfect balls with cashews on top. Apart from the fact that my bro and me gobbled up most of the balls, I have to mention that my food-finicky daughter relished it so much to the extent that she was extremely disappointed I was competing with her to finish it!

2) Thair vadai - This was my 'masakai demand' :). I have to say that it just melted in my mouth, the taste was perfect and I ate them like a greedy pig!

3) Gulab jamoons-- 3 varieties. One was the regular variety, other was with bread? and 3rd with?? I cannot wait for the suspense, please reveal them to me. Whatever maybe the ingredients, I have to say that they were just simply lip smacking! Please please go ahead and give them as diwali sweets! Let all ILites have the benefit as I had!

4) Banana Kesari-- had mild taste of banana , well blended and tasty!

5) Keera vadai - small, perfect rounds(I dont remember the last time I have seen such cute perfect vadais with perfect taste)

To top it all, she showed us a demo of kneading chappatis in a grinder(with a kneader blade) and the chappatis made out of it was soo soft so soft that it was unbelievable!

I just cannot thank her enough for the love she showered on me, this time, just like she did for my first pregnancy.

May God bless her and her family with a very happy, healthy life!!

Love you tonnes!

Purni
(ps - I am sorry I dont have photos to share, but please do try them at ur home and relish the tastes!)

Purnima,
First accept my congrats on your pregnancy..
with description of Chitvish...we all had to accept one point here..that...she is 'aadarsha mangai'...(oviya, thanks for coming to the rescue)
those delicacies which you had described had to be tried, but doubt that
it would be perfect as hers...so let out the suspense for the 3rd type gulab jamun..

Dear Friends,
Befor you rack your brains, I will solve the riddle of 3 gulab jamuns!!
1 - milk powder gulab jamun, I have already given
2 - Makhan peda - to be "released" for deepavali -
3 - Cashew clusters - to be "released" for deepavali -
The other was date-khoya-ball ( my own recipe & my own name!) - something similar is available in Aavin. I bought it, tasted it & "invented" this! yet another deepavali release!!
The "banana kesari" - Huggi, a konkani dish,,,,,,, with gram dhal, bansi rava, sugar, honey & bananas.
Friends, I am trying out new sweets secially to post for deepavali. I want you all to be expert "mithaiwalis" - now don't start off about dieting, don't like sweets etc, now, please!
I now grind urad for vadai in food processor - WOW is a little word! Vadai obeys your order & I do by the flipping method, I have given. So thayir vadai comes out superb.
Sunitha, Purni is my cousin Meenu's daughter.
Love,
Chithra.

Dear Raji,

Thank you so much for the wishes. As such, for tasting Chitras handmade food itself , one has to be lucky, and tasting during the time when you really feel like eating good things, I consider myself to be gifted! Thanks to God for that.

Chitra has revealed all the 3 varieties of Gulab Jamun and I didnt get 2 of them right even after eating them!

Thanks for the comments,

Purni
