The Longest IL Meet Ever! In Madurai!

After Sridhar’s wonderful description, I do not stand anywhere in describing our meet. But just to satisfy myself trying to give a description, please bear with me.

As Sridhar has given all the minute details, I will just breeze through the whole meet. As the D Day and the D hour neared, my heart was beating very fast and was eagerly waiting for the clock to strike and my mobile to ring…. Myself and Akshaya went to meet the Legend couple. The rain god was about to break and pour it out but it did not deter our spirits. The meet was preponed due to Sridhar’s other engagements. As soon as I boarded the car, I was awestruck seeing Indhu sitting at the rear seat of the car and she left her usual seat to Akshaya (the front seat) for her (Acchu) to sit beside her favourite Sridhar. Please note here, don’t go by the photos, Indhu is real gorgeous. I just could not take my eyes off her. My plight itself was like that, imagine the plight of poor Sridhar . The ambience was perfect for a small tete and we had a sample photos too. Main topic of discussion was IL. Indhu kept on asking me as to how I give a perfect repartee to whatever Sridhar told us. I did most of the talking and for a change blowed my trumpet too and start telling about myself getting into IL and becoming a fan of the Legend. Time flew so fast before we could realize it was time to part and promptly they dropped me back to the Kalayana mandapam.

The next morning at sharp 9.30 Indhu called and told me that they were waiting outside. By this time my relatives were very curious to know who this friend of mine that too in Madurai as I don’t have anybody there. As soon as I mentioned VR’s name, they were dumbfounded. They were shocked to know that I was VR’s friend and VR was from Madurai. I should honestly confess my head was not on my shoulders at that time. By the time I could come out, there was a small crowd around VR exchanging pleasantries. I was filled with pride that I was a friend of VR.

Finally bid adieu to my relatives and went with Sridhar & Indhu to their house. As we got inside the house, believe me we were greeted by Sridhar’s mother and father. I should say here Sridhar’s mother was very warm and spoke to me as if I was known to her from a very long time. She asked the cook Kaveri to serve us lime juice which was badly needed due to the heat. Then I realized from where Sridhar got all this warmth, love and affection. So promptly we packed off Sridhar to office and we went to shopping and shopped to our hearts content. Returned home and Sridhar joined us for lunch and continued our chit chat after lunch with photo sessions. We teased Sridhar a lot equally joined by Indhu. Indhu also started to give us more hints so that we could pull Sridhar’s legs more. As the clock struck 4.30 Sridhar went to office and we went to the inhouse stores to purchase some sarees. By that time there was a call on Indhu’s mobile and lo it was Chitvish who called us at Madurai to wish me and speak to me. This was the time I was waiting …. Like a small child complaining to the mother, I too complained that Sridhar is not keeping his promise for Jigirthanda and like the mother, mami also said, “not to worry and Sridhar is always like that only as I have know him for 3 years and better come to Chennai and I will make the same”. This sparked off more action as finally Sridhar agreed to give us our due treat. By this time , power was back and we had a feast to watch Sridhar’s wedding. Sridhar as a lanky, thin, tall young man with a beautiful doe eyed beauty next to him. His face was glowing with the pride possession. I could understand the Herculean effort he had put to get this beauty. Needless to say, it was worth all the trouble.

Finally, Sridhar came back from office, we headed to Murugan Idli kadai had our Jigirthanda and then to the railway station. We boarded the train, and our hearts were full as we waved them a bye. As the train chugged off the station and the faces of Sridhar and Indhu began to fade, I was filled with total remorse. Here is the legend of IL, who is a celebrity and I had made him as my chauffeur. My eyes were brimming and the tears threatened to fall down. I just thanked the Almighty for giving me such a wonderful experience and wonderful people. Sridhar, Please do forgive me.

Let me take this opportunity to thank Malathy and Jey for creating this wonderful site where we have some rare gems to treasure. These are experience which enrich our lives.

The mementoes given by this wonderful couple was much appreciated by my family and will hold a pride of place in mine and my daughter’s wardrobe.

It was so nice to read about the yummies, jigirthanda, murugan idli kadai etc.

Well...I hope I will be a part of the team that breaks this record in Madurai when I come to India next.......after all Madurai is just under 4 hrs drive from Tenkasi....
