Awesome Atlantans - Oct 27th Bashll!!

Hi Friends,

Thanks to Doha ladies (Doha rox) first of all who inspired me to come up with a name for the Atlanta IL'ites - Awesome Atlantans!!

We had our second IL get together this season and it was a blast! There were 6 of us from the IL forum who came together with our families...Nidhi (who came with her husband Shyamal and 2 lovely daughters Meghan and Maya), Karuth (Karthika who came with her husband Arun and cute son Amruth), Manju (who came with her hubby Raghav and sweet baby girl Shruti along with her friend Vishnu), Hema (who came with her hubby Prasanna), Nivedi (who came with her hubby Gopal) and finally me (who was there with my hubby Akhil and baby Diya).

Nivedi got some delicious Carrot and coconut rice that was devoured by all - including the kids. You're an awesome cook Nivedi!! This recipe is a keeper!!

Nidhi got some yummy dahi aloo that went so well with the puris and coconut rice.

Hema got some mouth watering cholle for the potluck and she said that it was a collaborative effort with her hubby Prasanna. Way to go!!

Karthika got some really delicious desserts - Carrot halwa (that was gone in 10 minutes) and chocolate brownies (they looked so yummy that Hema and I started our lunch with them..)...

Manju got some really tasty bisibela and chapatis which complemented every other dish very nicely.

I had made some shahi paneer, puris, marble cake with chocolate icing and strawberry tiramisu trifle. We had soft drinks and some champagne (sparkling wine -Martini & Rossi Asti) to go with the food.

Hema, Nivedi and I had met before so it was like old friends meeting. I cannot even begin to tell you how precious their friendship has become to me. They have very sweet & friendly personalities and its fun to spend time with them. Hema has the loveliest smile ever and Nivedi has such a peaceful persona that I always love meeting them both. And fyi Nivedi wore an absolutely beatiful kashmiri embroidery top that was to die for....*sigh*...

Nidhi - I had spoken to her on phone before and was looking forward to meeting her. She's a very likable and charming person with a wonderful family. Her 2 daughters Meghan & Maya are just too cute for words! Just thinking about them is bringing a smile to my face. Meghan - all of 3 yrs old kept us spell bound with her little games and utterly adorable remarks. She was such a sweet kid - in fact she came and hugged Diya within 5 minutes and took charge of entertaining her...she's going to make a great elder sis! Maya (1 yr old) was adorable too and when she mistook me for her mom for a few minutes, the moment was too precious!

Karthika - She was bubbly, friendly and her laughter was infectious. She has laughing eyes and it was a pleasure to meet her and her family. Her son Amruth was also very cute and friendly and I loved having him around!

Manju - She is very charming and had come with her hubby, cute daughter Shruti and friend Vishnu. It was her hubby's birthday yet she came all the way to meet us and it was really sweet of her. I look forward to meeting and chatting with her again for a longer time next time... Her friend Vishnu was really sweet and invited us all to her home for our next get together...!

All in all, we had a fun time today. The party started around 12:45 pm and went on till 4:30 pm.

I'm posting some pix that we took...unfortunately, I took the group pic towards the end by which time Nidhi and her family had left... so you'll have to wait till the next get together to see her...
