| Dear IL’ites I am going to share some of my tactics, techniques, experiences whatever u name it. Some may seem funny, silly but that is all what i did. If you are interested, you too can use them for the forthcoming contests. Make full use of the search engines inside IL. For the first few days, i used the ordinary search engine n then later used google advanced search in IL. I should also say that only for the first few days i was able to use it n later on the pages were not displayed as the competition was getting tougher. But even then i tried using google search outside IL (I am talking about the one which we use generally for all searches.) You should only know what words exactly to put in search column to get the needed result. I had a glimpse of yesterday’s questions yesterday morning. When i returned back home from the meet and went through the questions again, i could relate first question to some other question posted earlier. When i sat back thinking, i was able to recollect that i had seen the answer for yesterday’s first question when i was in search of ‘precious gem Ganesh painting- surprise gift contest’..n there it was in the same forum. Later on, i jus wanted to know whether google too had the same anwers in it. I typed these words, ‘award in indusladies’. The second link which opened directed me to the same thread. But these searches should not refrain us from tasting the fruits of this contest. ‘Fruits’ here means reading all the valuable threads n posts we come across when we are in search of a particular answer. After all this should have been the motive of Team C when they had the idea of starting this contest. Again i should say, even this search won’t be of any use for the questions based on logics. Ex: the number of recipes in Shakambari thread. In that case, we don’t have any other option other than using our brain in studying the minds of judges. (Team C pls forgive me) When there are various possible answers for the same question n when only one will be considered, then we have to find which one the judges need. All of you might remember me coming up with a query on the recipe thread to Team C. I knew they wouldn’t give the exact clue which i was waiting for, so i was prepared to read between their words. It was the words, ‘very easy’ and ‘straight forward’ that served as a loophole for me. While counting the recipes for that day’s question at least ten times i would have come back to read those words again n again to fully understand the hidden meaning. ‘Very easy’ and ‘straight forward’ would not have come from them if they had wanted us to go deep inside each one of the recipes. Once if we sort out the forum in which the answer we are looking for is, then we have come half way in arriving at the answer. This holds good not only for contests, but for everything. Rather than straining ourselves with a lot of possibilities, if we try to reduce the degree of the problem, things will become easier. Now a days smart work pays more than hard work. There will be many to confuse you. ‘Somebody’ confused me with day before yesterday’s questions. I know that ‘somebody’ will be laughing now reading this. The first question was very easy. Both the questions seemed to be easy the way they were put up. But then i felt, it wouldn’t be that easy n that too when the contest is nearing its end. The words ‘ ‘Both’ the questions are tricky today’ from that great person made me think more on those same lines. Already i was confused n my confusion started doubling n finally ended up in severe headache. I rarely get headaches n day before yesterday i applied pain balm six times within one hour. This shows two important strategies to be followed while appearing for a contest. 1) Read my first line in this para again. We have to be careful. 2) Always have a headache pain relief balm with you when you have people around to confuse you. When i entered the final round, i knew i should be very careful in seeing to that i don’t make careless mistakes. I thought of writing answers in a paper before mailing my answers. On the first day, i took a paper which was lying nearby then. One side of it was fully written n other side was half-filled. I was lazy enough to get a fresh paper. I wrote the answers in that paper n mailed the same answers n got them right too on the first day of finals. I do always observe good signs following me. It may seem to you that i am a senti crack but believe me it works always for me. The next day when i took a fresh paper in my hand to write, i held it only for a second n kept it aside after that. I took the same used paper n the same blue sketch with which i wrote the answers the previous day. I used only this paper throughout the week n managed to write above the words written already before. But now if even a dog sees that paper, i am sure even that will vomit. Next comes the time of posting my answers. For the past one week, i have never sent my entries on the same day of seeing the questions. My entries were all on the next day n of course before the time limit given. There have been times where i have called a few before entering exam hall jus to hear those words, ‘All the best’ from those whose wishes mean a lot to me. I have waited for the wishes that served as good signs for me. Though i did not wait for anybody’s wishes during this contest, in the last week there has never been a single day i mailed my entries before seeing Varalotti sir’s, ‘You are on the path to being a winner’.. It is always good to observe the omens around us. Throughout this contest, i gave my answers only after making myself sure that i wont regret for anything, for whatever i did, i did to the best of my knowledge given the conditions of my life at that time. I should accept that i was a bit nervous yesterday though i am a person who takes things very lightly. I was very casual in playing this contest but when it came to answering yesterday’s questions i did not want to lose. I did not want to lose after coming a long way putting in lots of efforts for one whole month. I was ashamed of this. It took some time for me to come out of this n to prepare my mind to accept whatever that was lying in front of me. Only after making up my mind to face anything, i gave my answers. Staying cool, staying relaxed will make ourselves tuned to the energy occupying this universe n will yield better results.

| Dear Ilites, Thanx to all of you who had conveyed your best wishes & love ... As a new ilite, I started late in participating this treasure hunt contest... but the enthu & interest on digging the valuable info as part of hunting the queries enabled me to continue participating till the end... during some point of time... i felt taxing in searching answers for some of the tricky questions.... as i need to allocate more time that wld affect my regular schedule both @ work & home.... But continued doing so, as I was more addicted towards the results it offered for my patience & h/w work. Also i was participating in a contest after a looong time & it made me to behave like an enthusiatic kid yearning for success. HATS off to Team C for coining tricky queries that looked simple & straight fwd most of the times.... When I looked @ last day ??, immedly I felt I'm out of the contest but the patience & attitude not to lose after coming so far had helped in finding the right answers.... Once I found the answers of the D day ??, I felt the other contenstants wld hv also find the right answer & thought I wld be out still, as I my prelim score was only 19/22. However, felt happy that I was able to identify answers for all the days I participated in the contest... More than success on tracking down the queries, it had also offered me a wealth of knowledge & information that are buried in this forum that I wldn't have attempted in digging, w/out this contest.... Let me once again thank each one of you in wishing success & luck thro' out the contest. Dear Aruna & Meena, Happy to share this joyous moment of success with 2 of the actively rocking members in this forum. Hearty wishes to both of you... Dear Aishu22, Mohana, Honeybee, ammukutty, sowmyapbhat, Thanx for giving tough competition. Hats off to all of you. Great going gals... Rgds, Jlatch |
