“IndusLadies 3rd Anniversary Contest Announcement!”

What is the connection between January 26th and March 29th? They are just two different dates on the calendar, right? They are not even numerologically similar, as one adds up to eight and the other two.


Can we leave them out as two ordinary days like the other 363 days of the year? No, we cant. These days mark the birth of something spectacular, something unique.

The first date, January 26th, signifies the birth of the world’s largest democracy, India. The second one, March 29th, marks the birth of the world’s most loving, most vibrant community, the home for more than 16000 gracious women and some men too, our own www.indusladies.com.

Yes, come this March 29th, IL will be celebrating its third anniversary. The website which 16000 women the world over have made their home-page as well as their virtual home has completed more than 1000 days of fruitful existence.

As part of the 3rd Anniversary celebrations, we are going to have a treasure hunt contest. All you need to do is to hunt for the treasure here in IL.

There will be a question everyday starting from the 1st of March.

You have 24 hours to search the site and hunt for answers.

Once you find the answer you need to send a pm(private message) to the user ID Contest. Please don’t send a pm or email to me or for that matter, anybody in IL. Answers sent elsewhere will not be considered.<o:p></o:p>

Everyone who sends in the right answer will be declared a winner. The winners for the day will be announced the next day. We will have the qualifying rounds running till 22nd March.

And then will have the finals in the anniversary-week, the week beginning 23rd March.

From out of the winners of the qualifying rounds we will choose the participants for the final round. This will be by a fair, appropriate elimination process.

When I talk about treasure-hunt, I am reminded of a story told by my grandmother. In that story a fairy asks a handsome prince to hunt for a treasure in a heavanly garden.

The Prince looks around the garden and sees nothing but gold, diamonds, pearls and gems. And a baffled Prince tells the fairy, “The entire garden is a treasure. What do you want me to hunt?”

Hunting for a treasure in Indusladies is going to be a similar experience. Every forum, every thread and every post is a treasure, be it a recipe, financial tips, a story, an article, a poem or beauty tips.

In that fable the fairy answered the Prince, “It is difficult to hunt for a treasure in a garden full of treasures. And that’s the real challenge.”

So Smart ILites, get ready for the real challenge! Get ready to plunge headlong into the treasure-garden called Indusladies and come up with the treasure we ask for. And win fabulous gifts!

These are trial questions to make you have a feel of the contest. No need to post the answers or send them along.
The Anniversary Celebrations are being managed by a celebration team, which we have named Team C. (C is for celebration, cool, contest and even colourful, ha ha ha)
Team C consists of Malathy, Kamla, Vandhana and yours truly, varalotti.

ILites always love to play by the rules. So here are some rules in addition to the ones I have already mentioned.
Team C’s decision will be final on all matters relating to the contest.


A member can send only one answer for one question.


A member can participate in the contest on all days. Members participating in the contest for all days will have a better chance of qualifying for the final round.


Answers should be sent only by means of a private message to the userid Contest. Answers sent elsewhere will not be considered.


Team C will decide on the suitable process of elimination for a) selecting the participants for the final round and b) Choosing the winners from out of the finalists

Team C (C for Contest, C for celebration and C for.... so many things) has been very busy ever since the announcement. As a result of several virtual meetings held during the last two days, Team C has come up with some ideas to choose the winners.

Just a recap. The qualifying rounds will start on 1st March, 2008 and will go on up to and including 22nd March. Every day a question will be posted in a separate thread in this forum around 9 AM Indian Standard Time. And you have a full 24 hours to send in your answers.

You can send your answer by way of a private message (pm) to the user name Contest till 9 AM next morning.

The top 50 ILites who had sent in the maximum right answers during the qualifying rounds (March 1st to March 22nd) will move on to the finals.

The finals will start from 23rd March and will culminate on the Indusladies Anniversary Day, 29th March, 2008. From the finalists, three ILites who had given the maximum right answers in finals will be chosen for the 3 special prizes.

An ILite has sent me a pm "How should I prepare for the contest?"

I replied "Very simple. To paraphrase an old adage IL is paying you for eating sugar cane. (கரும்பு தின்னக் கூலி) Visit all the forums of Indusladies. Familiarize yourself with what's happening in every forum. Note down the interesting aspects, the peculiar aspects.

The important thing is you should know how to navigate in IL. You should know how to find out a particular information in the site. Whether it is Recipe for Walnut Halwa or a thread on user IDs in IL or advice regarding a bothersome sister-in-law or even hair-removal treatment, you should know where they are.

Then you are the winner.

Just one more helpful clue. You have time till tomorrow 9 AM to answer the question. Take as much time as you want and send in the answer that you think is right. Multiple answers to the same question is not allowed. Your 1st answer will only be considered.
