I Met Mrs.LataMurali, a Pragmatist, today in her house!!!

Dear all,


To start with my writing, I should first say how I entered lata mam’s house..I rang her up at exactly 12.25 today afternoon, on the way from my college and told her I would like to drop in too see her if she was at home then.. I got an immediate response saying, “Sure, You are most welcome and am free”. She even offered to come n pick me up. But as she was busy in kitchen then, I told her I myself will find out n come.. When autowala took me near her house by 1p.m, I heard a silky voice saying “Hi, Meena”..Turned around n saw.. There she was, standing in front of her apartment to welcome me.

to you ma'am for maintaining a spacious house so beautifully.. There were flower vases in each n every corner of hall. Fridge was like a photo frame for me, for in it was pasted many pictures of cartoons, cine stars, family photos, etc.. The very sight of this was more than enough for me to understand all about “Krishna’s Leelaigal” (am referring to Latha mam’s son here)

My eyes skipped a few blinks (thank God, my heart dint skip a few beats! ) when I saw the arch entrance to the dining hall. It had fine glass paintings, Lord Ganesha in the middle of it surrounded by many other designs. Later Latha ma’am told me that, the idea behind all this was her’s..
Dear Latha ma’am don’t think that I am flattering you if I say that you should have taken efforts to become an Interior Designer . Well, I think its not too late.. Its still late. Pls do think about this. Her kitchen can very well be called as a “Modular Kitchen”. Nice aroma was coming out from it & immediately I sensed that delicious lunch was awaiting me! (All of you.. pls note this down.. I called her only at 12.25 n told about my coming, but i was ready to eat a lunch at 1ck..This shows that none of you should welcome me to your house ). To say the fact, I actually rang her for asking her to come to a fruit shop. I jus wanted to meet her n have a small talk, but since then she was busy in the kitchen, she instead asked me to come to her house. I was forced to call my mom n I told her not to wait for me for lunch.

It started with a glass of ginger lime juice (I have had ginger juice n lime juice separately, but for the first time I found that something different like this can also be made!) and cucumber peanuts salad (it was a sunny day here, I thought she should have made this for me to chill me out but she told it’s a routine item for her lunch.. only after tasting it I came to know why it is a part of her lunch everyday!). She went into kitchen (I dint leave her there.. i too followed saying I’ll help her but was only talking n disturbing her ) n came out with lots of items.

We then had our lunch sitting in sofa (Latha ma’am told she hates taking lunch sitting in dining table. I felt like I heard my own voice then). Am listing down wat al we had for lunch today.


Veg Fried Rice (was extraordinarily yummy)
Paneer Butter Masala (I usually don’t take anything which has paneer in it, but now its surprising for me that, this never came to mind after tasting it…Want More…More…Only this my mind was telling)
Vathakuzhambu (mix got from Adyar Anandha Bhavan..i have decided to go to Adyar Anandha Bhavan tomorrow itself!)
Tomato Rasam (was more than an ordinary one which we make daily!)
Avarrakai n peas (made by Latha mam’s mom.. felt amma’s touch in it)
Green leaves with garlic, onion (I felt like it was made for me..i love spicy foods n so do Latha ma’am)
Beetroot (went along well with vathakuzhambu)
Gongura (My favourite.. I asked for this n ate after seeing her table which was full of variety of mixes n pickles. You wont believe me if I say that she has around ten such ones)
Plain White Rice
Dhal


My lunch started with a glass of ginger lime juice n ended with a glass of buttermilk. I dint expect these many items. The taste of all paved no space for curd rice in my stomach..so i decided to have a glass of buttermilk.

Latha mam’s grandfather Mr.V.P.Nagarajan came to her house twice while I was there in search of his great-grandson n returned back with a sad face when he heard that Krishna was not back from his school then. He is 94 years old! But even then he manages to walk, n to climb down steps on his own. I wish I too should be active like him not till 94 but atleast till God gives me a small space to live in this world! May you be active always grandpa! Then Latha mam’s sister-in-law(cousin’s wife) Ramya ma'am came. Latha ma’am rang up n called her to take a few snaps. She is a very friendly person. She is also a member of IL but she has not logged in that much. Ramya ma’am I think IL is the best place for a friendly person like you! Latha mam’s family is a very close knitted one. Almost all her relations are staying in the same area! Ma’am you are very lucky!

Krishna came home from school at 3ck. It was nice to see him going straight inside the bathroom to wash his face n hands immediately after removing his school bag (being a grown up even I don’t do that sometimes). He is studying in 3^rd std but is very brainy for that age. He teaches his mom almost everything except cooking n was cute in complaining that his mom is not getting chocolates for him often. He even invited me for his birthday which is to come next month.

When he was enjoying his Tiffin seeing Tom n Jerry- kids, Latha ma’am ran for switching on the computer. I was wondering what she was going to do, then understood after she buzzed Shanthi (Shanvy) ma’am in yahoo messenger. Shanthi ma’am..you are so sweet..Even though we have not met earlier in IL meet-ups, you immediately recognized me! Atleast I would have heard five times that you are very brainy from Latha ma’am. Now I can understand why she was saying so!

It was 4ck when it came to my mind that I had to leave n that it was getting late. Latha ma’am took me to her mother’s house which is very next to hers in the same apartment. I had a small talk with aunty. She enjoys doing yoga, meditation n exercises. She told me the benefits of doing all that.

It was around 4.30p.m when I stepped out. Latha ma'am dropped me in railway station in her scooty.

I don’t remember where our conversation started but I can say there was nothing which we dint discuss!.

Which started to be jus an another day for me turned out to be a very special one!! Here am controlling myself not to say thanks to Latha ma’am. She told me not to speak in a formal way as soon as I rang up n told me not use thanks anywhere. Dear Latha ma’am…am sorry to have used “ma’am” many times here…you pls replace all that with “akka” n read it once again! You have tolerated me for three n a half loooong hours n pls bear with this also..

Last but not the least, here comes my thanks to Mrs.malathy n Mr.jey for making all this possible! Dear Malathy ma’am as I have written in one of my posts earlier that unexpressed words has profound meaning than the expressed ones. But I wanted to complete this write-up with my simple thanks to you both in my way..
