| Hi all , I not too good in expressing in words but a very very emotional person. I had been to chennai for christmas vacation. I have been interacting with Mrs chitra for nearly 6 months . During my stay in chennai I didn't meet any of my relatives nor friends. but I decided to meet chitra and luckly her house was very very close to my mother's place. From the time I went to chennai I was telling only one thing " I want to meet Chitvish" . People in my house were wondering " who is this chitvish" ???? though I told them later about her. When I called her up she was so happy & invited me to her house. When I reached her house she was not there . she came in 10 minutes . We both hugged each other. I had gone to her place with my father. I felt very bad that I didn't take my daughter shruti. Mrs chitra would have been more happy. We had such a wonderful time. I think it is one of the most memorable days in my life. She had made dhokla & orange basundi. It was so tasty.(needless to say). My heart was filled with Joy like how a small child would feel with a packet of chocolates . I would have definetely spoken to her much more............ if I had gone alone. SHE IS A DOWN TO EARTH PERSON AND KIND PERSON. prabha |

Ria, During your next visit to India (whichever part is your hometown) do plan to make a trip to Chennai to meet Mrs.Chitvish. You are sure to have a wonderful time, don't forget to go with a good appetite :) Malathy |

| Dear Prabhabala, so you met the star of our forum! Good, good. I need not say amen to your experience about meeting her. If you had planned a bit earlier, we could all have met, better luck next time. Dear ria, how could you say that you do not have any remote connection to Chennai, with all of us ILiites here? You are always welcome to come and stay with me too, anytime. |

| Oh, Malathy, The evening she came, I have posted the photo in the Faces behind the Names thread. Prabha is a petit, absolutely sweet, warm, friendly girl. It was a pleasure to spend a few mts with her. I would have loved to meet Shruti too ! Hope for better luck next time! Dear Ria, You are one of the few ILites, who has impressed me with your posts, particularly, the no-nonsense ones in the in-laws forum ! You have decreased the "baiting" tendency. I would love to meet you. So long as I am here, no ILite can say that she has no base in Chennai. Just the two of us in a big 3 bedroomed flat. You are most welcome! Love, Chithra. Quote:

| Hi ILites We met Chitvish in December when we had gone to Chennai to attend a wedding in the family. And what an experience it was! As soon as we landed in Chennai, the first thing my mother did was calling Chitvish. They spoke for quite a while and decided on when to meet. We went to Chitra Aunty’s house for lunch the next day. The menu really amazed me! She had made special dishes for each one of us! She had made Cauliflower Kaai, Vaangi Baath, Rasam, Thair Sadam and Puli-Inji for my grandparents, Mixed Vegetable Curry, Methi Corn Pulao and Raita for my parents, brother Srivatsan and me, and the Lasagna was an exclusive for my brother and me. But we didn’t stick to these boundaries, everyone ate everything! She had planned the menu after taking into account all that my grandparents could eat as my grandfather is hypertensive and my grandmother is both diabetic and hypertensive. We had Bread Bonda for starters and Walnut Halwa, Mishti Dahi and Basundi were on the dessert menu. I thought of being a little helpful my helping her set the table. I placed all the dishes one by one on the table. She saw the arrangement and told me, “Swetha, would you mind if I teach you how to set the table?” I was taken by surprise because everything was placed very neatly. Something that I had not realized was that it was not ‘orderly’. She said “Everything has to placed in a certain order, the order in which you would serve yourself. For example, you have to place the Raita after the Pulao, and the Sadam before the Rasam, because that is how you would help yourself at the table.” This is something most of us forget, but now I can’t forget it even if I try hard! What I admired the most was the way everything was garnished. She had garnished the Thair Sadam with raw mango (maangai) slices and cucumber … can we even think of something like that?! We had a hearty meal, and I must tell you, we didn’t feel hungry unto dinner! While in conversation, we realized that my grandfather and Vishwanathan uncle were working in Not everyone has a heart like Chitra Aunty and Vishwanathan Uncle. They are so down to earth despite knowing most of the top-notch people in Chennai. to them! Uncle is enjoying his retired life while Aunty is enriching our lives through IL.We had a lovely time. So next time any of you decide to visit P.S.: My mother should have made this post long ago, but its ok ... I did it now ... better late than never ... sorry to keep you waiting! In the pictures: 1. Chitra Aunty, Paati, Amma and me 2. Thatha, Vishwanathan Uncle and Srivatsan 3. The menu! (I took the pic before the proper arrangement so it will be haywire ... pls excuse!) 4. Chitra Aunty and Amma
