| Dear Jacintha ma'am, A very warm welcome to you!! Hope to catch up with you in the next meet. "Gaining knowledge is in our hands"; well said ma'am. Absolutely true and I second on that opinion!! Always we blame our educational system; but never have we realized where we go wrong even in reproducing what is already been formulated and experimented !!Regards RamyaVaradharajan

| Common dear Meenakshi; Hey, is that all what our education system has given us da?? !! I do not think so.. Where comes practical knowledge without the application of theory da?? The basics can be gained only through the "already experimented particulars". Can we be made to work for BIOCON at the first go, soon after completing our degree?? Is that possible? I know am stuffing you with too many questions here, but just a thought will make us all realize that its not the educational system that seems to be tougher but the syllabus that is dumped on to us during our school days. If at all there need to be any eliminations, that should be first tried with eliminating different branches like CBSE, matriculation and higher secondary. Why give different standards to children in the first slot and confuse them later? At present, the matriculation also has come up with the total of 500 for eleven subjects when CBSE has just five subjects for 500 !! What is the point in reducing the total score with the same number of subjects? Won't the final score (after crap conversions) affect the over all percentage of the students? This is where the fault is. Tenth and Plus two are seen like two oceans (I guess only in our country) and the students are pushed to various so-called coaching classes for which 24*7 is insufficient for them. Where comes tenth and plus two without the junior classes?? Near by my home, I see the students stay late night (in school) for no particular use. Study should always be made calm and understandable, as future pillars of the country get cemented right from this stage. Where comes concentration when something is made forcibly ?? Only this needs to be blamed Meenakshi and not the system as the whole. I would affirm on the fact that India has got one of the best and potent educational systems in the whole world. No one can deny this fact. And for the practical solutions that you were talking about, Yes, I totally agree that we lack in the arena. This is due to mushrooming colleges by anyone (especially many uneducated) who can afford to get (grab) a land (say the present scenario: politicians) and start a so-called "engineering college" that lacks proper laboratories!! But where is the loop hole??? Who gives the accreditation ??? Do we see where the whole argument circles around !!? Dear Meenakshi, do you then say that any "brainy" soul can get into the IITs and have an easy go life after that?? IIT show-cases the "technical and quality education" of India. And even there the (sluggish) politics of reservation had crept in a couple of months back. My point is not to offend anyone here, but just to voice my views on our "WRONG NOTION" about what is existing today!! Dear Meenakshi, hope I did not sound naive in my feedback. The point that I wanted to stress was our mind-set that slips to think what is right and what is wrong!! Hope you agree with me!! If not, there is always this platform for us to discuss .This is a thread where we had an excellent write-up about the meet and I know I have deviated completely. Sorry. But could not resist writing the same since I felt it was the "need of the second" !! Regards RamyaVaradharajan

| Dear Janani Here am not trying to offend you nor am trying to defend myself.. As you have put forth your views n a few ques, I would like to reply from my point of view for the same.. 1)What is the use of theory knowledge without knowing when, where n how to apply them? 2)Of course we need to know the basics..infact a strong foundation should be laid on basics first..we need to know, I mean we need to understand “already experimented particulars” n schools n colleges should not make us mug up all these jus for the sake of reproducing it in answer sheets..If you feel that we are not capable enough to work for Biocon then whose fault it is? Schools which care only about producing state ranks? Colleges that fail to train students practically? Or it is the fault of the students who listen to what schools n colleges have been teaching so far? 3)You agree we have many loop holes.. Tenth, plus two are like two oceans, many branches should merge into a single stream, syllabus should be changed…When an educational system is complete without all these? System, as all know, is nothing but integration of parts for performing some function.. n wat all you have listed are the foundations for the whole building called system…when that itself is shaking…..??? 4)I.I.T’s can do a huge lot more than what they are doing now..You know about the creamy layer of it.. But I, personally know, how I.I.T has its impact on its students, which I don’t want to discuss here…I don’t want to send shock waves to anybody here..Will tell you wen I meet you in person.. Hahaha...See...we have turned this beautiful thread into a debate platform! Sorry dear Varloo ma'am for spoiling the very essence of this thread.. Love Meena
