Hi Fiona

Methi seeds can be roasted and then powdered finely. This powder has multipurpose use :

1. One teaspoonful methi powder can be mixed in water and taken on empty stomach in the morning and before going to bed. This will reduce blood sugar and also fight constpation.

2. Roast 100 gms of methi seeds and finely powder them. Mix this powder to 5 Kg of wheat flour (atta). The rotis/parathas/puris made with this mixture turn out very soft, nutricious.

Please try it and tell me.

With love

Hi
I think ,by now you would have successfully finished all the methi seeds with the help of other tips given here.
If it is stil there, sow the seeds in pots or ground and you get good venthaya keerai. These leaves can be used for cooking.

I have a recipe for methi seeds. It is usually preferred by people who don't mind little bit of bitter taste, like karela( bitter gourd).

soak about a cup of methi seeds overnight.
chop about a cup of onions,
three cups of tomato--- more dosen't hurt
garlic and ginger as per taste....no limit to it more the better specially garlic.

heat some oil, add few bay leaves and hing .
fry onions till translucent, add tomatoes, salt, turmeric, masala powder----all the usual stuff for curry.
add ginger and garlic. keep frying on low heat until the smell of garlic and masala is coming thru.
add the soaked methi seeds after throwing away the soaked water and washing it once.
cook it for a little while about 5-7 mins.
add about 2 cups of water to pressure cook it, you can add more water later as per your choice on how thick you want.
after two whistles its done.
add chopped green cilantro.
serve with rice.

For those of you who want to lessen the bitterness of methi further more. pressure cook it separately and throw away water and add the methi to the onoin, tomato mix.

its extremely good for blood pressure and body aches and for cooling effect on the body.
enjoy!

Methi is very useful for health, it is useful to cure stomach pain.. take 3-5 seeds with warm water. methi is very good for hairs also...make powder and soak in night apply this on head before one hr. of bathing...
this will prevent hair fall.

Hi Fiona,

Methi Sprouts are rich in Calcium and Iron, Naturopath's recommend this to all who wish to diet! Please sprout them and eat...doesnt taste abit bitter but you will relish the sweetish taste.

This is also good for people with diabets& acidity!

Wow, so many uses for methi. Thanks a lot friends. I take a Tsp of methi seeds each morning with water on an empty stomach. Just as a health tip. No harm in that.

Thumbs up Re: what to do with methi seeds

You can do a lot with methi seeds.
When you make fish curry,if you add it for seasoning along with mustard it gives an extra flavour.
The same goes while making prawns too whether in curry form or thokku form.Just add 1/2 tsp methi seeds too.Gives a very nice taste.

hi,
we can make methi as powder, mix it in curd before 6 hrs as paste..
Then we can apply it for hair for an hour and wash it...
Our hair becomes soft and reduces heat in our body.

While making dosa dough u can add some methi which helps to reduce heat in our body..
