Default Clutter management ideas welcome...

Hi...

How do you declutter your house?

Some of the things I do regularly-

1.Do not store old newspapers, magazines etc. for more than a week.

2.Get rid of old /outgrown dresses -send them to needy orphanages, old homes etc.

3.get rid of carry bags which you accumulate after every shopping trip.

4.Donate old school books immediately after your child completes a year in school.

5.Dont buy dvds.Rent them or exchange them ...

5.

6. Keep minimum utensils in the kitchen.

7.Do not stock your larder and fridge -you tend to waste most of them.

8.Dont buy things impulsively if it is not absolutely necessary.

9.Go in for sleek multifunctional furniture than heavy massive ornate ones.

1o. Use a lending library to get your books / mags than buying them.

hi shakambari ,

I would like to add some more tips. People with a lot of clutter can group them into three parts, useful, give away, and waste. If they can manage to divide the clutter in this way, they can get rid of unwanted things lying around the house. Sometimes we have so many things which we feel that we need for later but unable to decide what to do with it for the moment, can keep that for sometime to see if they need those or not.

Hope this is useful.

Sheery

first one is to control the buying instinct or the buying spree.

when we go on a shopping trip, we can not resist that instinct - especially when a display item cries -

please take me home

i am all alone here

i need your company

I AM ON SALE!!!!!!!

True,Natpudan...

Check impulsive buys- and you save money as well as restrict growing clutter.

Another useful idea...

Periodically clean you cupboards.

If you find dresses /things not used for more than 2 years-

donate or dispose of them.Probably you may never use them again...

connected to this,

i remember a joke:

in an office they were getting rid of all unwanted papers.

before shredding they went to the boss seeking for approval.

the SUPPANDI boss coolly said - shred all of them but don't forget to keep a copy of all the papers shredded!!!!!!!!!!!!
