Default Energy Saving tips

Hi friends,

I wanted to share a few tips for saving energy in our homes.

Some ideas:
1) Iron most of the clothes at a time, so that the iron box doesnt take time or energy for heating up
2) Use dishwasher and cloth dryer sparingly.
3) Remove mobile charger or other electrical appliances when not in use.
4) Turn off lights if you are not going back to the room in 20 mins.

This serves a two fold purpose of reducing energy bills as well a lighter load for the earth. Please share ideas so that we all can do our part for saving the earth for our children. Thanks!

we should save energy in the following ways

1. write on both sides of the paper.
2.cover short distances by walking instead of vehicles.
3.use solar energy to cook food as it is inexhaustible

Thanks for your tips, orangesandlemon.!! I save printouts to write on their backsides.
Another tip, if you have a clothstand, you can avoid the usage of the cloth dryer in the summer, as we have plentiful strong sun to dry the clothes.

great tips mevitha.... thanks for sharing.... most of us know them, but we fail to impliment them in our daily lifes. taking off the plug off when not using an appliance has actually brought down the electricity bill by 20% for me..... and also keeping the AC at 24-25 degrees also saves energy.

thanks for reminding.....

akila

Thanks Srividya and Akhila.. good to know you are following these tips.. Small steps will surely make big differences.
Few tips that I follow at office are
1) Switch off the monitor while not in use or shut down system for the weekend.
2) Having a small green plant will soothe our sore eyes as well as give fresh oxygen. 3) Minimize the number of printouts taken.
4) Refill water bottles instead of buying soft drinks. This is good for the health as well as the purse.
5) Use blackle.com instead of using google for searches. This will reduce the watt hours used to display the white background. Another smart Google intiative..

Keep encouraging friends to follow these simple tips which can make a difference to the environment.
