| I too have slowly reduced the use of non-stick pans. I had stopped using pots a long time ago, but was using the griddle to make rotis and dosas. Now I love the Indian tawa with the long handle for them. |

| I think most of us are sailing on the same boat. Avoiding something though we dont know the actual ill effects. Remember few months "mangai" came up with some reasons behind it. Dear mangai, if possible plz share with us the details you know regarding the above topic. Thanks all. |

| Hi everyone, I too had doubts about using non-stick cookwares, until I did some search on the internet. Non-stick cookwares, as we all know has a chemical coating named " Teflon" - which makes the utensils " non-stickable ". and this Teflon has know to cause CANCER! when the non-stick is placed on the stove over high heat , it produces dangerous fumes which could kill a pet parakeet.( quote from Natural cures revealed - author Kevin Trudeau - by the way book has lots on alternative medicine and helpful tips in it!) . Also if u read the instructions that come with non-stickware, they will have a warning in fine print, which we often times overlook ! So, after being clear about the non-stick, i didn't want to use it anymore. now i use only stainless steel utensils. for me health comes first...it should be so for everyone of us! Hope this was of any help to you all IL's. Thanks K |

| Hi Cinduja dear, The non-stick is OK as long as we keep heat in low.But for Indian style cooking when kept in high heat it releases lot of chemicals. You can see black layers coming out. You can get stainless steel set.I think in the old thread we discussed about which one to use. Some one mentioned about a silver ware from costco.I found the price to be very reasonable. There are some environmental friendly non-stick cookware (I think which doesn't have chemical coating).I will try to find them and update this thread. Thanks Mangai
