| Thanks for asking krithika :) I do this: 2 cups of rice - 6 cups of water [ my friend told me that one batch of raw rice in stores, I stocked up before the price hike... was new(?)- puthu arisi, pazhaiyaa arisi difference in water usage it seems.. and that this being new one needs more water, she said.. so tried it and it seems to work as expected] But I check the rice after 25 mins so that I change to warm else it starts sticking at the bottom

| Hi Nandhu, I am a bit surprised..cos usually pudhu (new) rice requires less water and gets cooked sooner. When more water is added for pudhu arisi, it becomes too soft & mushy. But for pazha (old) rice , more water & more time is required (this rice is preferred by many ). Probably, what you have got is pazhava arisi , since you have mentioned it requires 6 cups of water for 2 cups rice. To reduce the sticking at the bottom, as soon as the rice is cooked, unplug it..cos when kept in warm mode, the rice starts sticking more. Cheers Krithika |

Another tip is to switch off the cooker as soon as you hear the done whistle. The food stays HOT for three to four hours without keeping it in the warm mode. Also, I use sona masuri rice and the proportion is 1 cup rice to three cups water. It works absolutely fine. |
