Hi all
Nice topic "Remaking"

If Poriyal like beans and carrot poriyal, potato, cabbage is leftover we can prepare Masala dosai.
1. Heat the left overs with little oil
2. pour the rice batter in dosa kadai. spread as usual but not so thin
3. place 2 tsp of any poriyal(left over) spread nicely
4. put some oil as usual
5. if cooked turn other side slowly.
6. let it be for some seconds and serve hot with coconut chuttney or sambhar

If rice leftover

1. Buy Lemon/Tamarind powder
2. put 2 tsp of oil in kadai.
3. add curry leaves, red chillies(1), and the rice let it be for 2 mins (why I put the rice as it is cooked at afternoon itself it is so hard so for loosening I usually do this)
4. Now add any powder. Garnish with corriander leaves and cashew nuts.
5. Serve hot with corriander thovaiyal or sambhar.
(I usually do this within a min everything empty. All like this rice. My husband usually like tiffin at night if I prepare this he is the first in "Q" )

ENJOY.. Will tell u more

Thanks
Bhuvi

How can we even think of wasting any food at all.We can store it in the fridge & use it in various ways.In this thread itself,so many tips are there.
We can use our imagination & invent new recipes too!!!Give a bit of exercise for our gray matter
The kadamba-sadam method is very good.It is very tasty too.I have done it a variety of times.Even left over chappathi when u microwave for 15 seconds becomes extra soft & can have with jam like rolled chappathi.its yum!

Hi ladies,

very useful thread.. kudos to the starter of the thred! keep rocking .

I usually make upuma with left over idlis.. I keep the leftover idlis in the fridge for sometime or overnight.

once taken out, (Eg.: for 4-5 idlis)

I break them - making them nearly like powder..
Pour oil in Kadai
Add mustard, cumin seeds, dhal (1 tsp), red chilli (2-3 pcs), curry leaves.
Add Idli podi (usually as needed, but nearly 3 tbs or more will be good)
Add few drops of lemon (gives a tangy taste)
Add Coriander leaves.

This makes upuma with leftover Idlis... Cool na bonk

Very nice thread and tips...

I too have one tip to add here.

Punugulu using left over idli batter.
Here,I am giving recipe.

Idli batter
Suji - 2 or 3 tbsp
Maida flour - 2tbsp
Green chillies - 3 or 4
Chopped onions
Chopped cilantro
salt

and mix all these well. Even with spoon you can make small punugulu by deep fry in oil.

Hope it helps.

I like to start a thread regarding "use of left over food to the next day with out wasting" I am having some useful tips. Here are they.

I use the left over few coconut chutney (prepared before day night and kept frozen in fridge) in korma. As korma has coconut, green chilly and little fried channa dhall. That does not change the taste. The same way I mix the before day onion chutney in any gravy or masala fry, and moong dhalls with cabbage curry.

Post your ideas to get some other usefull tips like this.

Like sundarusha said, i make banana bread with old bananas, if the banana turns little blackish no one at home eats it.
Usually when i cook food, if it is more, i freeze a small portion and then use it after few days.
all veg curries, channa masala or pav bajji masala, we use it next day with bread, in sandwich maker, those triangle pockets are good to eat on the go as breakfast and heatlhy too when made with whole wheat bread. we get a good serving of veggies and whole grain for breakfast or snacks.
