Hi All,

With leftover rice i make chinese fried rice, biryani and mix veg pulav (i always keep Everest shahi biryani masala for this purpose only) or else u can make rasia muthia also with leftover rice.

with leftover chanadal - You can mix the leftover chanadal with wheat flour and make paratha.

bonk silly of me to not get the point..
anyways, you're absolutely right about the food served at restaurants, we are never sure how "old" it might be.

Poonam, the chana daal tip sounds good.

If u have left over idlis cut them into four pieces each add chilli powder or milagapodi powder and fry it in oil till it becomes crisp. This is very tasty and looks like potato fried

Hi,
We never waste a bit of food items. Old food (pazhaya sadam) is best for our health.

Hi Dear ILites,
I have one concern about using left overs.......you all are adding more oil/fat to make a new dish out of the left overs......why not to microwave the left-over and have that in its own form......
For ladies who cook a three course menu three times a day instead of cooking in bulk for 2-3 days.....we are taking much more fat and oil than required.......and you will also have a tendency to eat more so that u don't have any left overs......when cooked food is stored properly, they will be good in refrigerator/freezer for at least 3-4 days.....
So, I usually cook for 2-3 days and put it in different storage containers and each day just thaw one container and finish it off.......
Just my two cents.....
regards.
