If the fabric of the Kameez is still attractive, and not faded, you can make "throws", to place on teapoys, side tables etc. or cover for the Microwave, Mixie. Just cut out largish squares of required size , line with a sturdy plain cloth ( maybe from the salwar) give all round piping for the four edges with any old zari border or lace.
I have seen a friend using patterned silk cloth from old salwar kameez to make pretty photo frames for her child's drawings.
You can also make letter-holders.

Hi Manjula,

What is "throws" and how to make it. And how can we make letter holders?

hi,
I too face a great problem in disposing the old but untorn clothes especially gents garments.
For ladies garments -- I have a suggestion. Make long stips of these clothes..... sarees can be cut lengthwise into 2 or 3. Now take 3 stips & then plait them as long as possible and make a spiral colourful rug by stitching the adjacent sides.
hope you like the idea

You can make awesome bags out of it. (Corduroy or Denim pants though) How to Make a Corduroy Pants Purse - wikiHow

In chennai, we tried for someplace to give away old clothes..good ones, but no one is willing to come and take them.We are unable to deliver as we have our own problems of transport etc. When we call they express willingness to take them, but no initiative to colloect.Any place?Whole bunch of churidars, pants, shirts sarees etc.,etc.

My Husband is having a large collection of shirts... most of thm he wont wear. I just made square pieces out of it.. hand-stitched the edges and use thm as kitchen-towels. I also use thm to clean the floor too. My hubby gets bit sad whn he sees this

Whn my baby was born i used old cotton sarees to make cloth diapers for her... they r easy to wash and get dried soon unlike towels.
