Simi, CONGRATULATIONS :D You should be feeling great to become a Mom soon! I have heard it is safe to travel upto the 7th month. I know one of my friend travelled to India when she was 6 months pregnant, had baby shower in India and returned by the end of 7th month. Good Luck, Take care.

Congrats, Simi. I too have heard it is safe for air travel till the 7th month. As long as you have no vomiting or diziness you can plan for travel. I have also heard many airlines take good care of pregnant women during travel, so should not be a problem if you feel healthy and confident of travelling long hours. Take care and have a safe trip.

Simi, I have travelled by air in my 3rd month and came back within 3 weeks. When I consulted my doc, she said there shouldnt be any problem till the 7th month. Make sure you keep yourself hydrated, take frequent walks in the flight.. you should be fine.. I think 5th month is the safest to travel.. Happy journey and enjoy !! Malini

Hi preeti, It depends on your health conditions basically. If all goes well, you can actually travel till 5 weeks before due date. But conditions vary from airlines to airlines and you have to check their website individually. Also I have heard that if you are travelling after 7 months, most of the airlines require a letter from the hospital mentioning your health conditions. All the best

not sure which airlines do not allow travel beyond 6 months. you'll have to check out with them. i think the rules depend on the flight hours. i travelled when i was 26 weeks but carried a letter from my doctor saying i was in good health to travel and how many weeks i was pregnant during travel and my due date. but your doctor must decide whether you can travel or give birth where you are! and just a small tip, wherever you're travelling from try to take minimum transits even if it costs a bit more otherwise it's not a difficult journey:) all the best!

Hi all, I have to go to India for my sister's marriage during my 5th month. So I need some suggestions from you all. I have to change 3 flights, from SFO to Hong Kong (14hrs) then Hong Kong to MALAYSIA (3.50 hrs) then MALAYSIA to Chennai(3.40hrs) and including the time in between, total of 31 hrs. Is that ok to travel such long distance during pregnancy. What precautions do u take. I'm going to stay in Chennai for more than 1 month. And Chennai is such a hot place especially during mid-summer (May and June). And since I'm going to attend my own sister's marriage, I will be busy going for shopping, going out to meet people or busy with the pre and post marriage activities. So I'm worried about my health in that hot summer. Does anybody gone through this type of situation. If so what precautions did you take. One more question. If I were here, I would have to visit doctor every month. But since I will be in India for say one and half month, should I visit a doctor there also during my stay? thanks, pebblebeach Last edited by pebblebeach; 19th February 2008 at 07:47 PM.
