| dear vaishnavi, during my first pregnancy i was in kolkata working for a punjabi guy, and he was so fond of me that he insisted i take the lunch he send from home, so every day i was given papaya and different pickles all 1/2 tsp for my taste buds to be tickled to eat something, and right u are u should take all, these things are avoided in the initial stage so that u dont loose the baby, but once ur masakkai time is over, that is the vomiting period which some have, u can have all fruits and veggies, try to take more fibre as u may face constipation during pregnancy, so a lot of greens and salad will help u to digest well, do take a lot of walk and if nothing is wrong like any delicacy i would advise even swimming which is very good, for the baby and u, and a lot of squatting on the ground to help u deliver easily, we used to swab and sweep a lot during the later stages, food when taken little at a time will not hamper, never overload or over eat all because u like it, be very careful here, and i think u can enjoy a lot of music and create a very happy ambience for the child, or some om manthram kind which will soothe with the sound, all our indian manthrams are to soothe us, regards sunkan |

| Here is my take. Both ripe papaya and pineapple are good source of vitamins. I used to have both these fruits right from day 1 of my 2 pregnancies and i delivered healthy babies. Even til , is a good source of iron and calcium . if you take it in moderation its okay. So if you are craving til chikki or laddu, go for it. As for spicy food, and caffeine rich foods, i would limit it too . Vandhana |

Do not worry at all.None of the doctors or any scientific sources tell us to avoid sesame, till, pineapple, papayya etc.Grandmom's believe that consuming these in excess would produce heat in the body, and so avoiding them during first trimester is advisable by them.I was avoiding these, coz i was having occasional bleeding during my pregnancy. And u do not worry at all.The yogurt/buttermilk which u take will regulate ue body heat if at all any heat.Kool! Vaishu |

| For some reason excessive Vitamin A is considered harmful to the growing foetus especially in the first trimester. Papaya and pineapple are rich sources of this vitamin and hence probably the doctor says its best to avoid it. However, I have also read that the Vitamin A present in animal food is the form which is harmful and the beta carotene form of Vitamin A present in plant food, can be consumed. However, better to avoid it just to be on the safe side. |
