Favourite sweets shop..

Hi All,

Am from hyderabad too..I used to like

1. Jalebis of Delhi Mithaiwala,Ameerpet,their khara,sweet aloo mixture,kachoris etc are also good...

2.Dhokla,sandwich of Balaji Shop near Pension Office,MehidiPatnam ..

3.One of the balaji shops is famous for their Rasmalai too..dont know the exact name

4.Coming to Andhra sweets i think Vellanki Sweets in Madhura Nagar near Yousufguda is good.. It has branches in major centers in Hyderabad...

5. Sahadeva Reddy Sweets in Miyapur( tasted 6 years back) i think it has branch in Dilsukhnagar too.

6. Pulla Reddy sweets are good but sometimes their taste gets compromised especially during big festivals like Diwali..may be its the case with all before festivals.

7.During my last year visit to hyderabad i got the chance to eat Jalebis at a famous chat bhandar in the lane opposite to Mahakali temple ,Sec Bad..it was also good..lots of crowd there...itseems it is famous for its chat and samosas...had been to Abhiruchi Swagruha foods Yousufguda..their samosas were good....had been to Dadus at Himatyar too...felt the chat their is very expensive and didnt find their sweets exceptional...no offense Dadu patronizers....I also liked Sudarshan Reddy sweets in Tarnaka,

8.Ofcourse Gokul Chat Koti...i used to like their bhelpuri & ragda samosa

There are many local favourites too...

Will update this list after this year's visit.Happy Eating...

nice sweet thread!!!!
i love all sweets and savouries from grand sweets in chennai-they have got great kachori's these days!!!!
suriya sweets-its another destination for great cashew katli and other milk sweets and their appam is very gud especially hot hot!!!!!!
shri mithai-has got great variety and extraordinary tasting sweets of all types!!!!!

hi all,

i like the sweets in shri mithai. my father used to tell they have their own cows from which they take the milk and do the sweets. when there is a topic about sweets i feel saying this only to everyone esp the vegeterians "do not eat the silver foiled sweets" heard that to make it thin they put it inbetween the pig's flesh or something. when i said this to my husband he did not believe but he googled it and found am right so beware of the silver foiled sweets. also can anybody start a new thread to let everyone know how veg r cheated by adding animal products in the products what we use everyday.like the silver foil, tooth paste..........

Hi Manuu, thanks for sharing. Yes the jalebis of Delhi Mithaiwala are very tasty that when they are hot.. I heard about Vellanki Sweets where they are even famouse for pickels and Idly, dosa, bengal gram dhal and curry powders..

And now after that sad bomb attack on Gokul Chat in Koti, its opened newly but the taste remained same for all mouth watering chat dishes..

Yeah i too agree with you that silver foiled sweets should be avoided but don't have any idea about what you said. Thanks for sharing info..

Yes Vellanki is famous for its podis too...Last year i took idly karam from Vellanki on my return trip ...it was very good.

I have to visit Gokul chat this time..thanks for the info
