pros and cons of living in high raised builings

hi
am in a dilemma, please suggest..
we have our elderly inlaws living in chennai...
we are thinking of buying a flat with all modern facilities and have them stay there..i always prefer buying a modern flat compared to individual house, consdiring flats will have more security for the elderly people and also for good time pass...
please suggest what are the pros and cons of living in high raised apartments with modern amenites in chennai,
