Hi,

if fire place is not in use, it is best to decorate with candles and light them once in a while. However depending on your fire place - ie., if it is open, you pretty much can keep anything inside to decorate else some lighted (battery operated or otherwise) things like house, train tracks, christmas trees etc - most of which you can buy during christmas should work. You can also get innovative and try and hang (drop down from the roof of the fire place) ornaments, Indian hanging lamps etc.... You could also keep traditional diyas if you want ethnic look. I could only come up with these...hope this helps.

Hi Divya

The fireplace is inevitably the focal point of a room. Ifyou are are not using it, then here are a few suggestions.

A very important note before you start. Make sure you follow the colours and the decor of the whole room.

1. Place some potted plants in front of the fireplace.
2. Get a nice big vase to match the colour scheme of your living room and fill it with fresh flowers.
3. Alternately, get a clear glass bowl and fill it with glass beads, pebbles or simply sea shells.
4. Find a nice fancy or ethnic container(that should match the rest of the living room decor) and fill it with some aromatic pot pourri.
5. You can also place a nice statue or handicraft piece(elephant) or a set of Russian dolls according to the size (always remember to match the decor)
