| Hi, Here in USA, and even most of the Indian houses have only living cum dining room.... It makes easier to host for launch/dinner buffets for more people at the same time. You can spread your menus on the table and let people decide where they would like to eat it.....sitting on sofa or on the chairs...... You can see the interior of several rooms over the net and I'm sure you will definitely get some idea of decorating your house. One more thing, its best to do the interiors by ourselves as we have to live with it.....so arrangements that will suit us will be best for us. Regards.

Let me give you some ideas from what i have learned as an interior decorator..there is nothing wrong in placing the dining table in the living room...you can either 1) choose an extendable table and stackable chairs if you have enough room.you get great choices in such tables in furniture shops .. The table can be extended as per requirement. The chairs once stacked away will not take much space.Only disadvantage is that the table has to be kept clutter free ie,no pickles ,salt n pepper etc on it otherwise it will destroy the look of the room. 2) another option is to invest in a small teapoy( here again u get varieties like stackable three tier tables, extendable ones etc).this can retain the look of the living room and when entertaining guests you can place your food on it.This will look quite unconventional n homily too.May be you can throw in a rug and few cushions on one side when guests come..for additional seating... happy decorating.. sumitha
