| 1.Always visit a well known shop or go to one from whom you have purchased earlier. 2.Spend time on each piece .Check the height and depth of the seat fit the length of your legs and whether it is easy to get in and out of seat. 3.Keep in mind that hard wood such teak is more durable than soft woods such as pine and sal. 4.Wood joints should be ideally mortise and tenon. The joints should fit tightly with gaps. 5.Furniture should not feel light or flimsy. 6.Larger pieces like sofa should not sag in the middle because this indicates a lack of proper support and bracing. 7.Check the exposed arms or legs are smooth and evely coloured and blemish free. 8.Squeeze padded areas to make sure you are not able to feel the frame underneath. 8.Fabrics should fit in perfectly at the seams. 9.The piping should be smooth ,cleanly constructed and applied evenly throughout the furniture piece. 10.Make sure you take the measurements of the piece so that the furniture fits in well into the space in mind. 11.It is good idea to buy furniture with removable seat and back cushions ,since it is easier to vaccum and clean the cushions and frame. 2 |
