Dear IL members, any suggestions on a good embroidery & tailoring institute in chennai? And also let me know if any is located in Vadapalani area.

Also, is there any institute that will train specifically in blouses & salwar stitching?

Hi Geeths,

Mridula's school in Alwarpet teaches both embroidery and tailoring. They have embroidery through distance education course also. Please check out for details through google or in this forum.
Usha sewing school in Mount road offers courses in tailoring and machine embroidery. This is right next to the Mahindra showroom.

Are you from vadapalni. I am from vadapalani and am also interested in embroidery. doing it in offline. for hand embroidery u can visit needlenthread web site. it gives a video tutorial from where u can learn a lot many things.

Hi Geeths,

I am not sure of that. You can try at the Usha sewing school. YOu need to know sewing other dresses if you want to learn blouses only. Because knowledge of tailoring is mandatory for that. Anyways, you can check out there.

I just saw an AD in the paper about Sowmya Arts & Crafts, where the blouse and salwar stitching course is offered. Anybody heard of the institute/tried the course there?!

I have not heard of this place. Where is it? Can you post the details of this institute please?

I called up the number that was listed in the ad. This is not an institute. This is done by a lady at her apartment. She offers training only in basic blouse... So am trying out other options!
