    hi
    i am a real beginner to kasuti........... though i do kutch work very well i have wanted to do kasuti work. now after seeing all these lovely works i am more interested in learning it than before.
    however i have a doubt.......do i embroider the designs after getting the designs on the cloth by carbon or should i just try them on the cloth like that or i should get a net and try and do it on it without a design............what should i do?
    also how much of a net will i need. do i need to buy the net so that i can get it cut for each motif or will one meter of net cloth be sufficient for a saree.........as i am planning on doing a saree...........yeah yeah i know running before learning to walk. but somebody probably jaya or theartisticone can clear my doubts............
    thanks in advance
    SD

    Hi Simply doubtful,
    I will answer this for theartisticone.

    Go through my thread on Kasuthi using the links below
    [IMG] Embroidery : Kasuthi embroidery

    [IMG] Embroidery: Kasuthi Work Instructions ([IMG] 1 2 3 ... Last Page)

    kasuthi is counted thread embroidery done on an even weave fabric. You can learn the designs on matty cloth like it is mentioned in the tutorial but the work is done by counting the meshes on the matty cloth as illustrated in Posts 99-106 pg 10 and 11. Also I have given detailed explanations on how to use the net and how the design is done and how the net is removed. For a full sari you need abt half meter net but get 1 metre. Also read my post on net selection

    You can check it out and get back to me with your doubts on my thread

    Artisticone - you are living up to your name! Your blouse piece is beautiful - please get it stitched - it is not too late! The colours are really striking . By the way, how do you insert smileys in your messages - I can't seem to find any.

    thanks a lot!:):biggrin2::rotfl
    actually the blouse piece has got discoloured a bit in the back so i think i will cherish it as it is!
    when you post, you should choose the reply option on the left not the quick reply; then you can see the smileys on the left!!:)
    here's hoping to see more smiles in your post hence forth!
