Default Embroidery :Machine Embroidery Tips & Tricks

Hi buddies,
It is really encouraging to know that we have a bunch of embroidery experts right here among ourselves.Pls contribute the tips and lessons that you had learnt from your trials or from your gurus when you were a beginner like me.
To begin with:
1.How to to make small oval petals ?
2.Thread is getting tangled in bunches below the cloth.. What would be the problem?

Thanks in advance!!
Bindhu

hi bindhu, regardg point 2 - am not an expert. recollecting moms advice. its because of thread tension. you need to tighten/loosen the bobbin screw or tighten/loosen the knob above, near the needle, which has numbers on it. thread pools up either on the top of the cloth or below. one of the method is followed for each. but i dont which one for which.... ha ha. experiment and let me know.

Hi bindhu,
regarding your 1st problem there are two solutions.... 1. you can make cut work by doing zig zag around the hole. 2. you can make raised satin stitch. that is make running stitch along the length on the desired area & then do satin stitch along the width.
the second problem arises as shilpa has pointed out due to loose upper thread tension or even when the cloth is not very tout on the hoop.
anything else please do write.
cheers

hi bindhu,
i too never had any formal training. just trial & error method. Please go through the tutorials of the site called "advanced embroidery". it is very useful.Even "embroidery library" has some good video tutorials & designs.

Do we have to necessarily use the embroidery foot? What will be the added advantage of using it?

I got this doubt, b'cos while trying my hands at free-hand embroidery, the upper thread cud'nt pull the bobbin thread inspite of using the hoop. But when the cloth is pressed down over the stitch table, the stitch comes out well
