| Hi, Welcome to this group. You can take any embroidery design or books are available for painting designs ( COLOURED DESIGNS) & tracing. If you know painting, then no probs. First you try on a cotton cloth, then do it on sarees and etc. you will be knowing the consistancy of the colour ,& accordingly you can mix the color. try a simple design first. You can use any fabric colours( acrylic Colours)here we will get fevicryl acrylic colours , crylin colours, also silk colours. if you want to paint in silk cloth, then you can use silk colours. there you will get set a silk colours. which is very good. but any time plz practice first and then try on a good material. all the best. v.k. |

| Hi dear, thank you for you reply. so I will try in some rough work first. I have fevicryl acrylic colours. I have to buy painting design book. How can i trace from that? thnk you so much with love lakshmy |

| hi lakshmi, You get carbon. there is one brand available in carreffour and lulu which has a set of blue, yellow, white, pink carbon papers. you can use one of these. and trace the design on to the cloth. as visalam said, the first try is always better with a cotton. and then proceed towards silk.

| Hi lakshmi, visalamkrishnan, and shanvi have outlined most of what you have to do fabric painting.Anyway to kick start, you need, 1.tracing paper, ..(you can use parchment paper used to line the baking sheet also..which will readily be available )2.Fabric paints...which you already have. 3.a couple of round and flat brushes. 4.carbon..or else you can coat one side of the printout paper with pencil ..the size of the design, and use it! ![]() 5.water to clean the brushes, a rag cloth etc., etc. 6.Finally designs...there are so many free design sites, and our friends here have posted so many designs themselves for the benefit of others..isn't that cute? you can download them, and a printout of a size you want ...and lo ...you have your designs! To name a few links: EmbroideryPlaza.com | Unique Embroidery Designs Club | 2350 Designs http://www.indusladies.com/forums/ho...ollection.html Try first in cotton, as VK has suggested, after removing the starch, by soaking it overnight and washing thoroughly to dry. Good luck, and we are all looking forward to see your handwork! |

| Hi kaluputti and santhi, thank you so much for your advice. as you said there is no need for any design book. most of the designs done by the friends are fantastic.... suberb... I downloaded many... I am now in trill to do painting.... the result I will send it to you.. with love lakshmy |

| Dear lakshmi, kaluputti has explained it so well. As she said try to use the pencil carbon for any good material. ( rub with pencil at the back of the design or in a plain sheet of paper just use charcoal powder( if it is available) or with a pencil rub fully( Atleast to the size of the design) . keep this paper in between the tracing and the painting material and do the tracing. it is important to wash the cotton cloth before doing the painting. if you practice ,more and more you will become an expert. All the best V.k. |
