Thumbs up Craft Works :Chinese Ceramic Instructions

Hi,
some craft lovers asked me for the Ceramic art procedure .
Materials required:
1. Ceramic powder-
2.Corn flour
3. plaster of paris.
4. cotton
5. Fevicol S.H
6 Clear varnish
7.Paint brushes.
8. Acrylic colors
9 . Pot, Plates, Tiles, etc. ( to fix the flowers, fruits, )
10. vaseline ( any petroleum jelly to avoid sticking in hands)

Mixing method for Flowers.

Take the above all three powders in the ratio of 4:1:1
Sieve three powders well. In a large bowl take this powders and add fevicol little by little and mix very weel without any lumps. mash it throughly till it becomes very soft like Atta dough.
Beat this dough with a weight on a hard surface well. then spread this dough like a chapathi ( with hand) . Now make a cotton net and spread this cotton on the dough( chapathi) , roll this gently. beat this roll again . beat very well till the cotton mix well with the dough. this step is very important to avoid cracks on the finished works.
Now make a ball & keep this in an air tight palstic covers. Now this mixture is ready to mould. Do what ever shape flowers or fruits , leaves etc. after drying fully give colours. Fix the finsihed thing on desired surface.after a day apply varnish.

Another method for doing fruits.

use only ceramic powder and diluted fevicol 2;1 2 fevicol , 1. water
no cotton for this mix.
pound very well with a hard object ( like hammer)

hope i explained the method properly and easy to understand. for any doubt please feel free . ready to clarify the doubts.
all the best,
visalamkrishnan

Dear Visalam,

Thanks for the detailed procedure. Will try to go to the store and get all the materials required and will try to do. BTW how many days can we save the prepared dough, in case we have extra?

Thanks
Shree.

Dear Shree,
you can store this dough for a week. in an Air tight container. if you expose it outside, it will become very hard. if you keep it in fridge, then it may stay for 10, 15 days. When you use, bring it to room temp, hammer it and bring it to soft dough, then use. totally it should be very soft or else it will crack.
All the best.
