Yeah, the kurathi's work are pretty neat and very very economical. However, I find that with the demand in jewellery making going higher, kurathi's are also becoming pricey and we need to bargain...! Also, if we need anything special kind of stuff, they say, 'Come to Gypsy Colony', and I asked where it was, she says there is a colony for all kurathi's in Kottur where they say we could fetch more kinds of beads...

Btw, were you able to learn that tool from the kurathi near Gandhi Mandapam which you were mentioning the other day? I see her daily as I drive back home that way.

Nice to know you also got to the koorathi's there! It was actually a idea that got into me long back. Jewellery making, has just been a vent to do this. They are nice, neat finish ones actually, and also economical. I have got a friend there, she is very sweet, gives me ideas and also makes sure she gets me the colous I ask for!!

Even I drive back home the same way. I did not learn form her though. Got to learn from a friend in the gypsy colony. However, I was not as good as her, i handling that. may be i need somemore practice on that. I am just learning this out of some weird thought that landed on my head some months back - to make one of those bunch type earrings. I dont know if you have seen those, but I love that model a lot. I ended up giving some orders to these people for them!

Nice to know you cross the same part of the city. There would have been umpteen times, when we were probably standing in the same signal!!

Yes, I think i know what you are referring to...the earrings looks like 'grapes' and is available in different colours...infact, I picked up some 5 or 6 of that...and also wondered how it was done...but didnt know it was done using a tool!!

Its high time, we started putting faces to names - So, we should meet sometime!!

Sure!! I think I will just let this thread alone, for a while for IL'ites to post responses. We can sure meet some time. yes, those grapes first caught my eyes in 2004. Ever since, I have been buying variants of them. nowdays, they dont make many and keep. Itis like, on a order you get. I will try to post some pics of that tomorrow!!

Hey IL,

My first jewellery workshop in Bangalore went off very well and all credit goes to vkrithika1 (Kamala) – the organizer, host everything!!!!!!

When I told her that I was going to be in Bangalore on an official visit, she was able to get people who can attend workshop after office hours.
We had the workshop on two days between 6.30 PM to 9.30 and we all were in a different world, ladies sant sang it was!!
Thanks, Kamala once again, I really enjoyed it!!

And she is truly a perfect Home maker and is amazed seeing her hospitality. Also, she made excellent bramin food for us!! Though I was in Bangalore, never felt out of place at all!!!!!
I also got an opportunity to meet another IL Lalita shivguru who impeccable dress sense(matching earings, bangles, necklace, clip), she was a source of inspiration to others in the group :)

It was nice to put faces to names and IL has been the platform for making it happen!!!

Just wanted to share all these with you...
