what is raised satin stitch

to my knowledge, it's the same as padded satin stitch. it gives a sort of 3-d effect to the otherwise flat satin stitch. check this site for some details: Padded Satin Stitch in Sharon B's Dictionary of Stitches for Hand Embroidery and Needlework
