It is a kind of embroidery. It will be like a rectangular cot where the cloth/saree can be fixed and then embroidery can be done on that.
I am looking for a place in Chennai or Madurai to buy it and some books related to it so that I can learn myself. I want to buy a small piece which is like a small stool (mukkali in tamil) which is used to embroider small pieces like blouse etc... One of my sisterinlaw in hyderabad was telling me about it. As I cannot carry a big cot like frame from India, I am looking for a small one. Let me see if anyone from chennai or Madurai could give any info about it.
Definitely people in hyderabad are aware of it.
Regards
Lilly

Dear Srija,
I had a medium size round frame to learn and do embroidery when I was in school.I bought a bigger one later.About the rectangular one, I don't know.May be Prabhabala knows.
Such frames with screws are available in secunderabad /koti shops.Even in local places we get it in Gifts and novelty shops.
Love
Meena

Yes, my relatives back in Hyderabad did mention about the availability in Hyderabad. But I am wondering whether it is possible to buy a small frame and needles in Madurai or Chennai?
