Let us discuss the margazhi kutcheries you have attended/listened...

The music season has started with a bang in chennai, and also in other parts of the country.
With all Channels having a competition, jayatv,rajtv are both bringing in kutcheries. jayatv has been regular...now rajtv is giving glimpses of the kutcheries that are being held as a part of the chennaiyil thiruvaiyaaru...

Let me start with the jayatv kutchery of Ganesh and Kumaresh.violin.....

It was a treat to the ears..especially the begada....and the theme was also good.

Anybody listened to this....

I & My husband are watching Margazhi utsav in Jaya TV.My hubby likes carnatic music & sing very well .We r missing chennai now...........
At what time are telecasting on Raj Tv ?

You have started a timely thread!
I have not listened to their violin performance..Will they telecast it again?
or does any channel comes up with their show?

In Nanganallur Anjaneyar temple, during this season almost all the famous personalities (carntic musicians, instrumentalists) come to take us to some other world! On each and every Jan 1st its compulsarily Sudha Ragunathan's concert there in the evening. One need not pay anything to relish all that. Last year i attened her concert. It was from 5.30pm till 9.30pm but i realised only then how time runs so fast..But one has to go at 4pm itself to get a seat for her concert. Unfortunately am going to miss it on coming jan1st. I wont be here at Chennai dat time.
If time permits you come n enjoy ma'am.

Chennaites are spoiled for choice. but as I am under treatment, i cannot go and sit in through the concert. I watch the concerts in asianet, jayatv, rajtv, then tamil rainbow fm., fmgold ...has most of the concerts...will note down the time and tell you...ddbharati has beautiful concerts...

Did you watch Bombay Jayshree....

Hey meena,
It is telecast in the evening from 6.00 to 7.00 in jaya tv.. and retelecast the next morning.....(Will give you the telecast if my friends upload it in the net...somewhere...)

You forgot to mention the 1 rupee coin people throng to get on the new year at 00.00 from the temple. i am almost in the same area. Do you have the list of who are singing this season....maybe i can try to just go and get a glimpse......

Its been one week since i went to temple..So dont know about the schedule for this season..Will be going this weekend and will surely let you know all the details..Where do you stay exactly? pm me your address ma'am..And i think they have stopped giving that one rupee coin on jan1st..

Pls confirm.
I will tell u to my mother, go to this temple for 1st jan .My elder sister is in shanthi Nagar in Adambakkam.My mother also teaching carnatic songs as well as saibhajans to children .she is good singer.

Nice to hear that your mother is taking music classes..
On every jan 1st sudha Ragunathan ma'am comes to Anjaneyar temple to give her concert. She wont miss it. Right from 1980's she comes here and sings. She was M.L.Vasantha Kumari mam's student that time. Great na!
I dont have the list now with me. Will let u know by this weekend.

They telecast concert shows in jaya tv too. Today it was Priya sisters. That was a great treat to ears!

The theme of the scintillating performance of Priya Sisters was Devi.
There were two songs that were new to me...
1. Tulasamma mainta...Devagandhari- Sri tyagayya.
2. Merugu chekkula alamelu manga - Revathy(?)...Composer(?)
3. Vrittam +`Karunai Deivame - Sindu Bhairavi...Madurai T.Srinivasan.
4. Nityankari.....Annapooraashtakam slokam....Was it Hindolam...
5. Jayma Jaiamma Jagadeeswari Saima - Darbari Kanada- Sai Bhajan (Incidentally a favorite of veda my DH)
6. Thagunnaya Hari Neeku - Kalyani .. The way all the lakshmi's were brought in the song was good..composer???
7. Srichakra---Ragamalika....Srichakra
8. Jagath janani...rathipathipriya...gaanam krishna iyer

And their answers to all the questions were truly awesome. Haripriya's manodharma...(kalyani..)... seven of them...great....
