Default Embroidery : Discussion on Mridula's School of Embroidery

Hi Friends,

I have seen a lot of high end boutiques and designer outfits in India which are creating modern apparel and dress design embellished with either Indian or western embroidery. These are only within the reach of a limited circle.

I feel lot of women like us can learn and do our own, if we try a bit extra.

As, I am doing my Diploma in Embroidery , I thought we would create a healthy discussion around the various possibilities.

You can see some of the sample work of the School students where I am currently learning Embroidery applications to Fashion design by clicking the weblink below..

There is a lot of possibility of applying embroidery to modern dress design as well as to traditional clothes.

Hi Ramamani,

At Mridula's you can choose the type of embrodery you want to do. Each type will be for 10 days, 3hrs/day. At the end you have to do a project. Each type they charge some 900 Rs or so.

Right now they are not teaching sewing. But I guess they will be starting one very soon.
Are you in chennai? If so where do you stay? May be you can join the class or do through correspondence.

Let me know what other details you want. You can also check out Unique Embroidery School

Cheers,
Sunitha

Hi Saheli

Your embroidery school's gallery motivates me to attend classes there. The main attraction is you get to learn almost all major types of embroidering techniques under one roof. Likewise are there any painting schools in Chennai where I will be able to learn various types of paintings, like nirmal, tanjore, mysore, madhubani, rajasthani, kalamkari, pathachitra, pithora, ragamalika, ghond, miniature, etc under one roof? It would be really helpful if you can guide me on this as I am not from Chennai.

Thanks&Regards

Dipa
