glass painting is not new, as we know the churches all over the world have this and the actual glass painting is to put many colored glass together by glass welding done, then came a period where people started trying out colors the way they do in pottery and fabric and so on, these interest slowly brought about a revolution in manufacturing paints suitable fro glass when u come across a good medium the riot of imagination takes a beautiful form and u can copy any style, whether it is tanjore or egyptian or african and so on, our people here would love to bring what is famous here, like the indian art but yes the eyes is very tough to get the right expression here as u may see like all paintings nothing is to be admired at close quarters, and to do justice to the eyes we need to make a column or border then fill in what is needed, my daughter chitra used the mehandi technique to apply the border with a cone, and then fill in the colors and bake it, so that no colors vanish for many years to come, so when u have the glass, brush and the medium, all paintings can come up in your imaginations..sunkan

I was amazed to see ur tanjore glass paintings...keep up the good wrok.
I am all charged up doingthe same, can u please clarify.........

1.The outline u are talking about can be done with normal glass outliners??
2. What is stone paints............that you have mentioned......
3. the outline and the paints are done on the front side itself????

the tanjore glass, either u get an outlined glass with the picture ready made-or u can outline your own choice- only the outline should be very fine.
then i used oil paint dabbing with cotton for background- stone paints for all jewellery- usual fabric paints for other miscellaneous items- on large surfaces- more than brush strokes- cotton dabbing gves u good results.

am waiting to see ur mirror mural- i think my sister has done one. will try and get u the pic. of that.

Great pic.........have been in the group since long, but now is that i get time to go to all threads and see the great works of thre IL lites.

Please clarify.

What paints have you used , lets say for the yashoda's skin tone and krishna's skin tone. hair........

The stones that are so shining, as in the rings, earrings, and jewellery..............

Please do reply back........... as i am very keen in doing that kind of a pic and gift it to my daughters birthday in March 2008.

Hope i will get a detailed procedure to do the same so that i can start doing the same.
I am sure there will be many like me who have doubts.......
