Hello all want to be knitters,
I can't say I am an expert at knitting. I just learnt it a year ago.
For starters I would advice to get a book from library or from a store which teahes to beginners.
Make sure to learn the easiest method to cast off the yarn. Forexample cast of 20 to begin with.
Next the basic stitches are knit and purl. Follw the directions given in the book to do this.
If you come up with any conerns post it here and I will be glad to walk you throug it.
So far,
I have knitted many scarfs and caps - for adults and kids.
A poncho for myself.
Baby sweater and cap for friend's baby.
Now I am working on Baby sweater with hood attached to a neighbours new born.
All this I just followed the direction.
Enough about me hope to hear from all of you and we can Knit together.

Hi ars,

That's really great ! You mean we can learn from scratch by just following the directions in the book?

Can you please give more info about the name of the book, the type of knitting needles and yarns to start with?

I will try in Walmart/Ben Franklin/ Michaels too.

So if you could share the exact type of needles, name of the books, type of yarns etc for beginners...I will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks
Krithika

Default Knitting : Websites & Useful Links

Hi IL's,
I would like to learn kitting. I also searched in a library for a knitting book. Still I didn't find any. Can you suggest me a knitting class for learning or a knitting book in online/hardcopy. Please help me.

Thanks,
Uma

Hi Sunkan,
I searched in hobbies & crafts and gone through all the threads. But Didn't see anyone taking classes for knitting. If anyone could post the basics about knitting, that would be helpful.

Thanks,
Uma
