Sorry people, this claim is not true. Once the food enters the stomach, it stays there for about an hour before moving on to the intestines. During this time, the stomach's contents become all the same temperature, i.e. "body temperature".

It mentions something about people in China and Japan drinking hot tea with their meals (but it doesn't say anything about them having fewer heart attacks). I just saw some statistics that says Japanese people die of cardiac arrest at a rate somewhere between the rates of Canadians (fewer) and Americans (greater).

In many old-world countries, hot tea became a tradition because boiling water killed germs therein, and that is the biggest benefit of drinking hot drinks in places with not-so-great water supplies.

Thanks for clarifying this. I did think that hot teas like green tea are good for your health but not because of the temperature of the tea. I think green tea helps with digestion but I'm not sure. I'll try to find an article about the benefits of drinking hot tea.

I have read this..and hv been telling to my dh not to hv cold water right after meals.. but u know how hot it is in chennai...
