    Hello Ladies

Water retention is common when the body is dehydrated. The body tends to retain every drop to keep us hydrated when the water intake is low. Water reserves are stored in extra-cellular spaces and show up as swollen feet, hands and legs.

Drink at least 8 glasses of fluids, in the form of water, fruit juices, tea, coconut water etc.

There is a close connection between salt and water consumption. The more salt you eat, the more water your system retains to dilute it. Avoid excessively salty foods like salted nuts, chips, pickles, canned food, hotdogs, sausages, dried or canned meat etc.

Too much sugar or sweets increases the hormone insulin. The high levels of insulin makes it difficult to get rid of sodium from the body.

Some natural foods rich in potassium like watermelon, grapes, cucumber, black tea, cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, onion, citrus juices, milk, yogurt, fennel, ginger, garlic etc help eliminate water retention.

Smoking and drinking alcohol contribute to water retention.

Instead of three large meals a day go for six small meals every 3 hours.

Include regular amounts of whole grain carbs, unsalted nuts, seeds, bananas etc.

Avoid red meats, instead go for fish, salmon, tuna etc.

Depending on your age get Bone Mass Density test done and take calcium as prescribed by your doctor. Please check my thread on Bone Mass Density test and the need for calcium.

Mobility of the body is essential. Exercises, yoga, breathing exercises, walking etc are recommended for good blood circulation in cases of water retention.

The numan body has a nice mechanism of its own to balance the water needs of the body. Normally we consume about about 2.8 Litre of water in drinks, and in our food. About 500 ml is manufactured within the body. We eliminate around 2.8 litre of water in the form of urine , sweat and water vapor in the expired air.
With a good kidney function and intact skin and healthy fuction of other systems, no need to force fluids or restrict fluids. If body needs fluids it shows it in the form of thirst. If you drink too much of water it will come out as urine.
Even if one conumes excess salt, healthy kidneys will excrete it.
Diseases of kidney, heart and blood vessels impose restriction on water and salt consumption.

    Hello Sir

I totally agree with you sir. The human body is part of the nature, has self regulating ability. But we repeatedly interfere with the mechanism, with our lifestyle blunders. Some times the body is exposed to various viruses that invade our body.

For instance my daughter doesn't drink more than 3 - 4 glasses of water in a day, more over crazy for chips and snacks. Daily she travels about 50 km up and down, gets dehydrated. Since she is a teenager it's an uphill task for me to make her drink sufficient water daily. Just an example.

Foe a person who drinks about 2 litres of water and consumes normal amount of salt, sure the kidneys function perfectly.

No wonder every second the body is adjusting to countless external and internal changes, over a period of time the health will take a toll.

The main stress in all my threads is to make people aware of the importance of consuming about 2 litres of water daily, regular exercises, breathing exercises, yoga, walking etc. and not to interfere with the body mechanism too much.

    Thank you.
