    Hello Ladies

Everyone has gas in the digestive tract - stomach, small intestines and large intestines. Gas is made up of oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, hydrogen etc. Though gas is common, is uncomfortable and embarrassing most of the times.

One common reason for gas could be the swallowed air along the food we eat rapidly or with the drinks swallow fast.

Another reason for gas is from the undigested food. The bacteria present in the intestines breaks down the food, producing hydrogen, carbon dioxide and sometimes methane which finally passes through the rectum.

    GAS PRODUCING FOODS ARE -

    Drinking liquids too fast

Cool drinks, aerated drinks, soda etc.

Beer, wine and some fruit juices

    chewing gum

    anxiety

    tobacco etc

    Beans and other legumes

    Eggs

Sweets, candy, ice creams, cakes and pastries, food with artificial sweeteners

Milk and dairy products in some people

    Processed foods, tinned food etc

Vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, cucumbers, peas, raw potatoes, radish, green peppers etc.

Fruits such as raw apples, banana, peaches, pears, melons, apricots etc

    GAS RELIEVING FOODS ARE -

Garlic soup increases the digestive power and decreases the intestinal gas

The decoction of roasted cumin seeds boiled with water helps relieve from the intestinal gas.

The decoction of ajwain seeds boiled with water also relieves from the gas.

Chewing fresh ginger slices soaked in lime will also help relieve the gas.

Mixture of dry ginger powder, a pinch of asafoetida and rock salt in warm water is good.

Peppermint tea also relieves the intestinal gas.

    Chewing fennel seeds helps

lemon juice with ground ginger relieves the gas.

Hing (LG) in hot cup of water helps relieve gas.

Chewing mint leaves or mint leaves boiled in a cup of water relieves the gas.

A warm cup of milk with a pinch of turmeric relieves the gas.

To avoid gas always chew your food properly, avoid eating in a hurry.

Make the habit of drinking minimum of 8 glasses of water daily.

Apart from the home remedies self medication is not advisable if the pain is unbearable.

Stale food eaten outside or water contamination could cause the intestinal gas, in such cases consulting the physician is the most sensible thing.

    Eat wise and stay fit.
