Thumbs up Re: What is your cooking oil?

We used only coconut oil for cooking when I was a kid, slowly graduated to gingelly oil too.

Through a dietitian, came to know that all oil have their share of goodness and badness, I mean good fatty acids and bad fatty acids, therefore use many oils at a time.

Now, we use corn oil, rice bran oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, and gingelly oil.

Default Re: What is your cooking oil?

hello

i use sesame/gingelli/til oil
for almost all dishes
once you get used to the
slightly different aroma
this oil tastes good
in all dishes and
is the best for health

sesame oil is not refined
and refining oils with
chemicals....!!
u should know is bad for health

i dont use olive oil
(not that i am good at
dishes that use them..!!)
is because it is not desi
and promoting olive oil
oils like groundnut/ gingeli
get a backseat
and farmers are in distress

coconut oil is good too
about bad cholesterol etc
or bad for the heart
the heart specialists must be
spending sleepless nights in kerala???
it is the lifestyle and not the oil
that causes a disturbance in lub dub

use oils that are double filtered
and not refined
thats the best for health

sathya

Dear IL's
Thank you all for your feedback.

Sathya,
Thanks for your detailed reply.
You are right. Promoting olive oil will affect the farmer's profit. But in our country, olive oil is not used as much when compared to other oils.
