Default Honey or Low calorie(sugar-free)Sugar for Cereals?

Hi,

Off-late becoming very diet conscious()..Daily morning i have a cup of muesli or corn flakes with milk and sugar as breakfast..Thought of avoiding this sugar..But nto able to eat it..So is honey a better alternative or the sugar-free which diabetes patients intake is good??

My advice would be do not go for sugar free supplements. If you can have the cereal with dates and sultanas (kishmish), that should be able to give you the sweetness required.

Thanks for the reply..Me too planning to get the cereals with mixed fruits and nuts, so as to add natural sweetness ...Here Kellogs and Complan have introduced a nutritious muesli with mixed nuts and fruits..let me give a try

even my vote not to go for sugar free supplements...

Intially i used to take 3 to 5(big spoons) of sugar for cereals but started reducing it by using the sugar 2 spoons (small spoons)

I will spread sugar once and will take 5 to 7 spoons.. I will have the sweet taste, once it is over again i will spread the sugar by this i have reduced..

I dono how far this is useful for you or it can help...

Cindhu,

My friend does the same, like she will have either fresh or dried grapes (raisins) in her breakfast. By the way, she takes them along with oat meal.

Just another thought ........ try using Lions Date Syrup in your cereal. It is healthy and should also give you some sweetness needed. I love Lions Date Syrup and mix it with milk at night. I have a bottle with me at the moment and I just need to take it to the Indian shops here asking them to start stocking this item too.........yes, we don't get is here unfortunately.
