As long as its stored effectively (like in a fridge) there is no issue at all.

But keeping it outside and having them might spoil the food.

One good thing that can be kept outside and eaten is "pazhaiya sadham" Leftover rice soaked in lots and lots of water.

This is very healthy and for people who have a very hot body.. this will help enormously.

This is what you do: Left over rice.. soak in lots of water - 5-6 cups of water, 2-3 spoons of curd and salt. In the morning, you mix it well so that rice is completely mashed and have it.

I love this... back home our grandpa used to give us whenever we went for vacation... Here I try to do at times..

hmmm.. those dayss

Hi,
If it is unhealthy, how about people cooking once in a week and keeping it for the rest of the week????
I feel, until unless the food is spoiled, we can use it.

Regards.

Leftover foods should be cooked to 165°F. To be safe, food must be cooked to an internal temperature high enough to destroy harmful bacteria. You can also use thermometer, if you are very particular.

The most popular use for microwaves is reheating leftovers; but if your microwave isn’t equipped with a turntable, you may need to take extra precautions to make sure leftover food is cooked throughout. Rotate food one-half turn midway through the heating time and give it a stir to eliminate cold spots where bacteria can survive.

Refrigerating foods at a proper temperature slows the growth of bacteria and prevents food-borne illness. Setting the Refrigerator below 45 degrees Fahrenheit is the proper temp.

If you feel that any of your dish may be left over, try to refrigerate within 2 hours of cooking.

As a general rule discard cooked food (refridgerated) after 2-3 days(max).

Our health is our wealth for all the tomorrows to come......That's my family belief .

Take care.

hi, i've read that frozen food keeps longer and is safer than the food kept in normal refrigeration...microwaves can defrost quickly also, so we can try that!
but i think reheating dishes containing palak is supposed to release toxins....
so i make palak only just enough!

Thumbs down Re: eating leftovers???

Hi lata and Nandhu,

I agree with both of you 100%.. esp during summer it is like "devaamritham"

One small change, instead of onions, I use finely chopped green chillies, urad dhal, hing, mustard and curry leaves for thadka. (thaalikaradhu) and ofcourse add salt & Curd. Yummy with vadu mango or Maahaali pickle ( this we dont get here in US)

Cheers
Krithika ( Jithiks)
