    My fruit of the day is bananas:

    Hi ami very nice thread.
    I love mangoes,banana,kiwi,apricot,dates,watermelon,pineapple etc.
    But my dr. Asked me not to eat mangoes banana watermelon since i have pcod and same applicable for those who ahve diabatic.
    And for those who are trying to conceive its not good to eat pappaya,pinapple,plantain and dates according to my dr. So i eat apple grapes etc.
    What to do/?

    Hi platinumsweet,

    Yes Papaya and Pineapple generates heat so doctors advise to avoid or reduce consumption of it ...but Y Dates and banana ??!?!???!?!?!??! Please share here the details please..Thought dates are primary source of fibre and iron...Isn't it not??

    Today I will share about benefits of having water melon:
    • Carotenoids have antioxidant activity , and free-radical scavenging property.
    • It has lycopene which reduces the risk of prostrate and oral cancers.
    • Vitamin B6 helps us to deal with anxiety and panic.
    • Vitamin C boosts the immune system so that you get sick less often and it also slows down aging and medical conditions such as cataract.
    • It also contains Vitamin A which will again give you good immunity ,fight of infections and a give you a good eye sight

    Hi all,

    Great thread with really good info on fruits :thumbsup..... I like all fruits (except for durian.... i hvnt yet tried it, but the smell is revolting)....my fav is jackfuit, papaya, mango..... yummmmm

    Came to know that fruits like watermelon,pineapple and papaya are not safe since they can increase estrogen and naturally contain protease,which isnt safe for the womb...and also since as I said earlier dates help to get a regular periods it might also have some effect on these hormones, was not able to get the details,because in office most of the sites are blocked:bonkMay be you can google for "Safety of eating dates/banana during preganancy" to know the side effects.:)
    Found this in net ,very helpful for pregnant(conceiving) ladies;not sure about its authenticity though: Veggies & fruits during pregnancy.

    Akila,Haven't heard about durian before,so let me research upon it and will post the benefits of having it:)
