Flax Seed Nutrition

    Hi Friends,

    1) Flax seed is Rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids which are a key force against inflammation in our bodies.This inflammation is enhanced by having too little Omega-3 intake such as in fish, flax, and walnuts.Especially helpful for vegetarians.:)

    2 Flax Seed is High in Fiber. Combination of healthy fat and high fiber content make it a great food for weight loss and maintenance .

    3) Flax seed is high in phytochemicals, including many antioxidants.

    Note that flax seeds need to be ground to make the nutrients available.

    How to use::
    Grind up a teaspoon of flax seeds and add the power to salads, soups, or in healthy baked goods like muffins and chutneys. You may increase the amount of flax seeds you eat every day gradually up to one tablespoon.

    Even I use flaxseed powder regularly.

    Is it ok to heat it while cooking?

    we aslo use flax seed regularly....we drink flax seed powder with water.
    i do chutney with it...
    fry flax seed without oil...fry red chilli& garlic grinde it with salt 7 tamirand.
    we can take it with some other chutney

    Where can we get flax seed in Chennai and Bangalore? Infact, today i had been to spar mall which is in Bannaragetta road Shinimkumar, but couldn't get it. Please kindly give shops name.

    I take flax seed pdr like this-

    1. Mix wit water or buttermilk

    2. Add it to idli chilly powder

    3.Mix it to veggies and gravies before serving

    here in chennai i buy from Nilgiris.

    hello Shakambari,
    for chutneys anyway adding of 2or 3tsps doesnt change the colour that much.

    Hi Shakambari,

    Its said that the nutritional value of flax seeds gets destroyed if you cook them. You can add the powdered flax seeds directly in smoothies or any other cooked gravies. Hope this helps.
