Tips for Indigestion

    The month of December, these days, is synonymous to partying, which means, exotic foods that does not really go well with the digestive system. Spicy foods, aerated drinks, alcoholic drinks, late-night eating are some reasons that can cause indigestion. Here are few tips to beat various types of indigestion.



    a. Heartburn: Heartburn causes burning sensation in the esophagus. It can also cause pain in the chest, neck, throat or jaw. This is also known as acid reflux. Sipping ginger, peppermint or chamomile tea after the meals will prevent heartburn. You can also chew a slice of ginger for relief.


    b. Acidity: Acidity occurs when the stomach excretes excess acid. If the food that you have eaten is hard to digest, the stomach struggles to assimilate the food, which in turn may lead to acidity. Tender coconut water, glass of milk, yogurt and almonds are known to give instant relief from acidity. You must avoid spicy and other hard-to-digest foods to prevent acidity.


    c. Bloating: Overeating, eating too fast or eating rich foods can create havoc to the digestive system, which will lead to bloating and abdominal discomfort. Use fennel seeds, chamomile tea and drinking sufficient water can get rid of bloating.

    when food is not chewed properly it also leads to indigestion and the stomach throws out such particles. So take time and chew the food, enjoy and happy eating.

    In warm water, add a pinch of salt and two pinches of asafoetida and drink. It gives relief from bloating, gas formation.

    Have light & easily digestable food for dinner which will ease your stomach from over working while you sleep. Eat two hours before you hit bed. A nice stroll after dinner is good. Never walk fast after having food.
