Fasting sugar level 101, what is it? , please advise

Dear ladies,

good day to you,

I was gestational diabetic (2010), and had depression after delivery, and took counseling+ medications after two years of my delivery( from 2012 December to 2014 May).

I was getting cold , cough, chest infections, vaginal infections on and off since a year, so mentioned this to doctor, as directed by him took a fasting sugar test yesterday, it is 101.

I am already controlling my diet, I wonder what it is.

I think I may be pre diabetic?

I would like to know if this may create problem in future as I would like to have another child.

( But husband says a no- no, as he thinks I may get another depression.)

Please advise - will it be possible for another pregnancy ( if I am diabetic or pre diabetic)?- can depression come back?

feeling sad and nervous now

anyone has something to share with something same/ similar ?

Sugar level over 100 in fasting is pre diabetic( some say above 95).But you can't come to an conclusion with a single reading. Go for HbA1c. It's a test to show your average sugar level in past 3 months. Or check your sugar levels daily in fasting using the home test like one touch.
As you have a history of gestational diabetics, you may get it in future. But it's still a "may". You can control with regular walking/ exercise and diet habits. Get the doctors advice, try for baby.
Also check your vitamin D level for depression problem.
Have a stress free life. I read your another thread in in laws section. Nobody can look after your health other than you. Just ignore others for your health sake. Be happy and follow doctors advice. Hope it helps.

Dear Resmij,

I am sorry about your condition of gestational diabetics and depression.
I am glad you have recovered and have a lovely child.

I think your sugar level indicates your potential to become diabetic. But these conditions need specialist's advice. Please do not seek non professional advice both for your health as well as in having a second child. Do not hesitate to have a multi-speciality opinion. You may need to consult your family doctor, gynae, psychiatric and diabetologists opinion before you and your DH take a final decision on the second child.

Please search matured specialist and follow the advice.

As a mother, I can only say that having another child may not be all that difficult. After all, your first child needs atleast on e brother or sister in his life!

But again, don't take decisions on emotions. Decide after getting a well considered professional advice.
