How to use henna?

Hi Buddies,
I have lot of gray hairs. From 1year I am using Garnier colors. After using this i got more gray hair. Now i planned to use henna for hair coloring. please help me how to use the henna to get dark brown color.

I have some doubts, please give solution to my doubts.

1. whether i need to oil my hair before applying henna or not?(I have dry hair)
2. How long i need to leave henna for dark brown color?
3. whether i can go for shampooing immediatly after washing henna?

Hi Kavitha,
I apply Henna to my Hair and my beautician tells me that if you want colour to latch on well, you should not apply oil before henna.
However after washing it off with just plain water towel dry it and then apply oil. This prevents the hair from becoming dry and also enhances the colour.
Do not shampoo hair immediately as the very puropse of using it for colour is lost. You may shampoo the next day.

Make henna paste with black tea water. This enhances the colour that henna gives.
I have the problem of catching cold very easily. Since Henna causes the cold because you have to keep at least for 1.5-2 hours to get good colour , I had to stop using it Now I am bound to use hair colour.
