| Hi All, I have oily hair & i need to wash my hair atleast thrice a week.I have found that shikakai is not giving much lather. Will it be able to remove the oilyness from my scalp? Can you please give me tips how to make Shikakai work for me? Thanks in advance, ManuuRaghuu |

| Dear Manuu, You can do the natural home remedy as follows ... Oily hair home cure: Shampoo Cleanser Recipe 1. Buy some shikakai powder from the market. Powder some green grams and fenugreek (methi) seeds. Mix two portions of shikakai powder, one portion of green gram flour and half portion of Fenugreek powder and keep it. When required, mix a tablespoon of this mixture in the white of an egg and use it as a shampoo. It does not lather like a soap, or shampoo, but cleanses the hair. 2. Take some dry soap nuts (reetha) and soak them in water overnight. Mash them in the morning and strain the soapy solution. Add a teaspoon of shikakai powder and wash your hair. Oily hair home remedy: A Mint Infusion Recipe 1. If you are unable to make the shampoo cleanser at home, use this infusion recipe. Prepare it and mix it in the shampoo you use. To make the infusion, boil two handfuls of mint (pudina) in one-and-a-half glass of water for 20 minutes. Strain the solution and mix in a 300 ml bottle of shampoo. Hope you find it useful ... Regards, Suni ...

| Hi Manuu Raghu, Personally, I apply oil to my hair and then I tie a wet towel ( soaked in hot water) around my hair, wait for an hour and then wash. I apply shikakai for the first wash and for the second wash I use a teeny bit of Dabur vatika shampoo. It leaves the hair smooth, soft and not oily or dry. Also, once a week you can mix methi paste (soaked overnite and make a paste in the morning) with the shikakai and as said before..make a semi solid paste. Use this for the first wash on the hair. | Hi Manuu, Of all the shampoos, I believe this Dabur Vatika henna conditioning shampoo is mild ( it already has a conditioner in it) . I use a little of this for my second wash. After you apply shikakai ( i use a mix of Uttam & meera herbal shikakai powders -since these are available in US) , rinse thoroughly, and then for second wash, use the dabur shampoo. Also check out the threads under Hair care- best shampoo and Falling hair (by lahy)..you will get a lot of tips from them. If not, I will post their links for you. Also, I've reduce blow drying my hair..this has also helped a bit. Cheers Krithika Quote:
